I'm heartbroken.

6 years ago I took a job away from friends and family. I came several hours away from everyone and everything I'd ever known.

I set up home in a new place not knowing a soul. I came for work. I just couldn't find anything where I was.

This man worked at the new place. 25 years older than me. Immediately we became friends. We laughed, we drank, we ate together. He is married and welcomed me into his family. I spent many nights at his home with his wife. Spent every Father's Day with him.

Not a holiday that passed did he not invite me over, knowing I'd be sitting home.

He was my friend. My true friend.

On Saturday he was put in ICU for organ failure. Yesterday his heart stopped. He had brain damage because of it. Today, his wife asked me to be there while they pulled the plug.

What a heart wrenching thing to witness.

My heart is in shambles.

Please pray for Merrill (Chico)

I loved that man and my heart is broken.

Thank you GLP.

My condolences for your loss. Embrace it. Own it and Process it. I'm doing the same right now having lost my only sibling, my sister, and that ends all my immediate family. At some point step back and realize what he realized...you were a true and loyal friend and most probably added years to his life by your friendship. All the best!

This is truly the thing to watch this evening. You may wish to start on a jag of Alan Watts videos.

I would put on a series of his talks to listen to as I drifted off to sleep after my husband suddenly died. It was and still is a great help.

Thank you all. I'm not even sure why I posted this here. I think I'm just reeling now and not sure what to do about the grief.

I pray his sweet soul finds its way to the Angels.

Sweet man, Chico, you will forever be missed by this person.

Soar high my friendhf

He's already there and a part if him will always be with you in your heart.

It's so hard to go through this. I've gone through it 4 times with loved ones and it never, never gets any easier.

Cry and grieve. That's natural. You will always miss him and even years from now a sudden sharp pain will hit you once in a while reminding you of your loss...but time helps and the pain gets easier to bear.

My prayers are for God to give you the strength to get through this, the peace to accept it and joy from the memories!

I shared that experience when my nephew was in a coma but the doctors said he was brain dead. Everyone was falling apart except me and I had to mediate with his mother, brother and his mom's ex. It was a painful thing because he and his brother spent every Thanksgiving with us. My sympathies to you for your loss.

Cycles of life and death are not natural. You're instincts are correct. We should not have to go through this. It's an insane asylum. I will not be incarnating into this 3D reality again if I can help it.

I recently lost a dear friend also. I'll never forgive that.

I'm so sorry for your loss and for what you had to go through.

My Aunt died in August of last year and we are all still reeling from it. In addition to being her sister-in-law, my Aunt had been my Mom's best friend for 38 years. They were truly like the closest sisters. On her death bed I heard my Aunt say to my Mom, "What will we do without each other?"

I'm sorry for your loss OP.

I witnessed the same thing for my dad...and then my mom.

Watching a person go from living to dead is not an easy thing to do...you should be proud of yourself that you were there for his wife!

He is probably thanking you for that right now from the other side!
