Good luck inforcing this joke of a law.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75847194

Is this more of fake news? The source seems dubious to me. OP, have you checked dot gov. for the # of the bill? I have sincere doubts about this. In other words, let’s not get in a tizzy over what might not even exist.

And even if it does, I would highly doubt POTUS would sign such a thing.

Thanks. I was hoping it wasn't true, but the bill seems to be in process...

Yeah, good luck with this one.

The video says it covers bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Gold and precious metals aren't included.
 Quoting: R. Fox

Thanks for checking on this, OP. Now we need to flood the White House with complaints since this is a very corrupt piece of shit legislation. Shame on Grassley. A Republican at that. Damn RINO.
 Quoting: PiccoloGal

Hahaha! People here are going to keep saying 'RINO' and keep trying to make excuses for business as usual with the Republican Party. You all are looking at the same Republican snakes who were in Congress with Bushie and they're always trying to pull the same kind of shit and nobody ever learns. Until we get rid of those snakes, we haven't a hope of getting anybody in the Party to follow the Constitution.

Trump said it himself a decade ago, which all here choose to ignore: he said if he ever ran for president, he'd run as a Republican because they were the stupidest voters in the country.

We already know, long since, that the Democratic 'elite' have absolute contempt for the voters. It's about time you all faced up to the fact that the Republicans hold us in contempt in equal measure. There are honest Republicans - Ron Paul was the best but Americans were too stupid to put him in the White House - and his son Rand is good, Susan Collins is good, Lisa Murkowski, Ted Poe and a few others, but we'd better fire the snakes or this is all just going to get worse.

Re: Senate Passes Bill Requiring Citizens Report Privately Stashed Cash
A new Senate bill will start forcing citizens to report cash and other assets not held in banks. This bill is stated to combat terrorism and money laundering. But is it? It seems to most like just another government attempt to steal assets and raise revenue for social programs as this bill will give the government the authority to track assets and seize them should an individual fail to report independently held assets exceeding $10,000.

This brings to mind the FBI raid under former FBI Director Comey of a small Texan Conservative political gathering back in 2015. Agents confiscated electronics and forcibly fingerprinted all 60 people gathered at the meeting. Now let’s just suppose for a second that they found any evidence of unreported wealth during the raid. You better believe they’d have seized-up all the assets. This is a very real possibility unfolding before us right now since the Senate just passed this bill.

The government is even going to start throwing people in prison if they find out folks haven’t been reporting ALL of their assets. How long would you guess the minimum federal sentence would be for failing to report assets not held in a back? Here is a hint. It’s about double the average time handed for 1st-time rape offenders. Find out more about this freedom infringing bill and how it gives the government the right to start wiretapping private citizens on the next page.

I really don't care about the party. I care about honest, intelligent people who are loyal to Americans and the Republic. It's just that there are none (that I can see) in the Democratic party. Damn few in the Republican as well. Trump is a man quite apart of the politics. He has to deal within the party and work with the party, but he's not an insider. Which suits me just fine!

Did anyone read the actual bill? It only affects assets when you are traveling. Nothing is said or implied about assets held in your home.

"A new bill seeks to track your money and assets incessantly, will enjoin any business with government ties to act as a de facto arm of DHS, and would steal all of your assets — including Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies — should you fail to report funds when traveling with over $10,000."
 Quoting: IDGAF

The problem here, IDGAF, is for alot of people their home can travel. Vehicles can travel as well. I fully agree with the previous GLPers' posts where they say they are against this Bill/Law. This stuff is absolutely no one's business but your own.
 Quoting: darkwolf007

I agree with you darkwolf007, this is BS. The point is that traveling means actually moving. Not a arbitrary thought that your RV 'can' move. I live in a physical home, so it's not moving, hence I can never travel unless I put a boatload of cash in my car, then get busted and found out.

The point is, although this is a piece of shit legislation, it doesn't affect you unless you try to cross borders w/more than 10K.

Am I wrong?

Too many States (Texas for one) would never go along with au/ag being listed as assets as they are the only thing mentioned under Article 1 Section 10 of the Constitution as being 'Legal tender'...why do I know this as a Canadian...sheesh...
This could be a back door for the eradication, shit do I want to get into this I've been up since 430...hell ya! This could be the back door for the eradication of the Federal reserve note which is an entirely illegal construct. BUT there has to be some mechanism in place to keep up the 'social niceties' in play now. Retirement funds, Social Security, pensions etc. Those things working Americans payed into, thinking they were investing in the future with.
There are many of those things that were being payed into. Private investing of course does not count. But getting a chunk off your paycheque forcibly taken from you without recourse is not one of those.
If Trump is serious about MAGA then the Fed has to go along with the IRS etc, all the non-Constitutional agencies along those lines. Boom...wipe out the Fed and there is no 'debt'. Hand the people in charge of the debt a US treasury note for '200 bazillion dollars' and tell them to f-off. Sessions just okay'd a Bill on 'debtors prisons' (I'm to lazy and I have to cook soon and go to work in the am) that pretty much allows the real Government to jail anyone involved with the Fed to go to jail once they realize, with their real-eyes, that the jig is up.
Utilizing the wealth and stored capitol of the US the Treasury (if indeed anything of merit is held at Ft Knox/West Point etc) of the United States can overturn Nixon's blow out of August 71 and back the dollar by a certain percentage of stolen American gold. This would then be a competing (it is dying FYI) currency with the about to be released gold Yuan and gold Ruble and between those three countries we can actually stop wars and it is not the NWO as it is supposed now. China wants to trade, Russia is set to become the largest exporter of organic food in the world.
No one wants a fight except the cornered rats in DC and as the swamp drains...they will not have any algae/pond scum to feed from. MAGA then #MEGA. In that order.
I have no doubt that in reality the future will be vastly more surprising than anything I can imagine. Now my own suspicion is that the Universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose. J.B.S. Haldane

Exactly. People seems to think this law will help crime. Nothing could be further from the truth. This law is directed right at average Joe six pack who works hard and obeys the law.

I can remember 20 or 30 years ago when they first passed the law that required banks to report all transactions of more than 10 thousand dollars. Back then 10 thousand dollars bought you 3 or 4 times as much as it does today.

Their reasoning for the law was that it would help law enforcement fight terrorism, money laundering and illegal drugs. Since then I have waited and waited to see some big take downs of the bad guys. Hasn't happened. No more busts of bad guys then before the law was passed. In fact there seems to be less busts.

But then again we know why. Because the Government are the bad guys. They fund ISIS, Al Quida and the Drug Cartels. In fact Obama was even arming the Drug Cartels via "Fast and Furious".

Did the law prevent Corporations from moving trillions offshore? Hell no.

Instead they look the other way and only see average Joe taking out 9,999 dollars nd charge him with "structuring".

Look back at Enron. They scammed billions out of people. Where were the regulators armed with this law? No where to be found. Ken Lay the CEO of Enron gets charged and convicted. He was supposed to go to court to be sentenced but has a heart Attack and dies? Since he was never sentenced then they had to wipe his record clean. His conviction was thrown out.

Ken Lay is not dead...where is he now? Living it up on some paradise Island?

Now this. Force us to report and put value on our assets. If I am not selling my assets then how in the hell do I know what it is worth? Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I can say something is worth this amount or that amount but it means nothing until someone actually pays me that amount.

But then that is exactly what the government wants. Force you o put an arbitrary worth on an asset then charge you with underestimating its value. There is zero chance of you winning. They will have you by the balls.

Sounds like they are getting all the laws in place before the "big event".

They will crash the dollar...kill the economy and stop all government checks going out to the peons.

Then they reset to a new gold baked currency. This time they don't want it illegal to own gold so they make this law saying you have to tell them you have lots of gold. If you do tell them them they will know who to target with fake charges of being a pedo, drug dealer or whatever. But once they destroy you then they get your gold.

If you don't tell them you have gold then they have the right to come after you and take your gold. So in fact they are making it illegal to own gold but they pretend it is ok to have it.

.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39138102

Well to a degree I agree, it will be an event. They had better have the military behind them, because if this goes down wrong, they are going to need them for protection. Something is going on behind the scene and they playing with fire. I'm thinking all those built cities in China are for all of the politicians. If this backfires any politician who stays, will be lynched in public.

How the hell do you travel with cryptos? A print out of your exchange wallet in your pocket?

Senate had hearings on it recently and it wasn't shelved so it'll pass in some form eventually. Probably fold it into some innocuous funding bill like the slimeballs typically do. And Trump will sign it, like he does everything that Congress vomits out, because Trump works for the bankers.

Capital controls is bad news. Capital controls are never instituted when things are goin' great. That this bill was even introduced and is getting committee hearings is a bad, bad sign.
