Forum Administrator 04/19/2019 12:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I understand your anger, and agree the entire thing has swung to another extreme that is hurting a lot of innocent people, BUT ... the peeps you scolded are low level enforcement types doing a job. The ones who really need to hear rants from people suffering due to the current political climate, are the legislators who make the shortsighted laws and regulations. My answer? Legalize it all and let natural selection sort it out. Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm" the warrior whispers back "I am the storm" INTJ-A |

As myself and about eight others wait to pick up our prescriptions..two individuals walk to the front of everybody and present the pharmacist with a document with the department of justice seal on top. The document was demand for an immediate inspection. Quoting: DooobieDooobieDo To my surprise the pharmacist a young and bold individual told them they could wait until all of those customers who are waiting online were taken care of . They agreed and the pharmacist proceeded to get us all out of there as fast she could. As i waited, I acknowledged the two individuals (a man and a woman )and asked if they were from the DEA? The man Initially attempted to act as if he didn’t hear my question and attempted to avoid making eye contact with me. I asked again and he ever so slightly nodded yes as to not engage in conversation. I said to him you know it really is a terrible thing that’s happening as far as the opioid crisis. It’s good that someone is doing something but you should also consider that these people are just doing their jobs and there are actually people who need pain medication to live productive lives. I hope you will keep that in mind as you continue to do your work. The woman kind of laughed and the man gave me another slight nod. I then responded by saying, “ you may think that’s funny but you have the people behind the counter scared to death and good people are suffering because of it I don’t think that’s very funny. “ The pharmacist who knows me.. called me over to finish up my business as she saw I was steamed.. The thread the other day was no joke . The opioid crisis is causing unforeseen and major consequences to law abiding citizens. The system needs to be fixed and I’m not sure how . On one hand I’ve seen at least eight or nine people in the past five years die from Opioid overdose.. The crisis is real, very real. But that doesn’t mean people who require controlled substances should be forced to live a more difficult life because of it. Sorry I’ve gone on a rant here but the arrogance and lack of care by these DEA representatives made my blood boil. This pharmacy is pretty big and I’ve known these people for sometime they run a clean operation. It’s not a pill mail or small back alley pharmacy. I feel for those affected by This crisis. I hope everyone has a great Easter God bless DDD heroin has been a problem in this country since the late 60's, the govt does NOTHING about it, NOTHING. and i dont think they ever will, its too big a money maker, the tons that get shipped here from middle east and asia, people are getting huge payoffs to look the other way. and then theres the big pharma making a fortune off of methadone and suboxone, whod want that to stop making them rich. the govt is implicite in this problem big time. |

My answer? Legalize it all and let natural selection sort it out. How about a hospice for addicts? One of my dear relatives got brain cancer. After some tests, Medicare said that her diagnosis was indeterminate and they would NOT pay for any treatment. However, they offered hospice. A nurse hooked the patient up to a morphine pump and gave her a button to push when there was pain. She died in six days from a bowel blockage. Sooo, how about a nice place for addicts with hot meals, a dorm room, and all the free drugs they want? Maybe on the beach where they can play and do drugs until the end. They sign a Do Not Resuscitate order and take BC pills so we don't end up with crack babies. Gets them off the streets. All kinds of crime will be reduced. Bankrupts the cartels. Offer them hospice or rehab. They can leave hospice and go to rehab whenever they choose. Addiction is a fatal disease. Not everyone wants treatment. This is a halfway measure to legalization which is the next step. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77331530 United States 04/19/2019 01:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My mother died from this exact reason. I also suspect the suicide increase is due to some who no longer can get their meds and don't have access to street drugs. After suffering for so long, a person can only take it for a time before they give up. My mother had been trying in vain to get her meds, which she had been on without issue for 25 years, increased due to tolerance and lack of effectiveness. She had been using the hospital for the last year as a last resort when it got so bad she could not stand it. Then one month, she ran out a couple days early and ended up having a heart attack. I realize it was her fault for going through them too soon, but when you are in constant pain, you don't think about that and only hope to ease the pain at that time. I hope at some point soon, legislators and FDA/DEA realize that they have caused an increase in suicide and the use of heroin and fentanyl. They are responsible for most of these deaths. Things need to change soon or we are going to see a larger loss of life than we already have now. And for you pot heads and herbal shit, don't bother with a snarky comment. Live a couple decades in their shoes and see how it feels. |

They did not do anything except wait until you got your stuff? My adult sons had the same as myself ten years now, another has r.a. we get zero pain meds, zero disability benefits....yet if I was rich, famous, I would get whatever pills I wanted...and of I was an addict, i would get sympathy, and methadone....which ironically enough, kills pain. I no longer have funds to pay a self pay pain clinic, and I've been on a waiting list years in alabama with medicaid, to see a pain doc!!! It's pure insanity! It's barbaric! |
