This is why open and free trade is a good thing...Cooperation. Collaboration.

Mutualism. Symbiosis.

Seeing our mutual needs will lead to mutual understanding. Mutual understand leads to a symbiotic relationship -- which is necessary given that we are beginning to live in close quarters

Socialism...taking care of those who didn't inherit the ability the take of themselves from their parents...poor people...poverty is an illness and those who are impoverished are societal orphans. Foster them rather than harvest them. And then let them foster you. So that you can be of even more use to your country and the world.

Socialism...We do not work for ourselves...We work for each other until everything is right in the world...call it mutualism if you are uncomfortable with the word.

People that are anti-social are called sociopaths.

Corn is the coin of the realm. So many products are dependent on corn derived materials.

Search "rainy day foods". $3 per day for a one-year pack.
 Quoting: Cheyenne

You are so right about corn being in everything. People just won't get it! All the naysayers and those making stupid comments about having no GMOs being good - yes, if we could do that. We have to get that monster out of the government that potus appointed - the head of monsanto running his section of the government. Dear God what a murderous plan!

But we don't have a lot of foods right now generally available that are not GMO - that's so bad, yet we have to eat what is available, unless we can grow everything we eat, or trade with what our neighbors grow - which is the ideal. Time to work on that, right?

The laughter and ignorant statements are very bothersome, OP, and I am so happy you made this thread. There have been several already, and there will be more, and each one is found by at least a few people who have not seen the others, to whom this is all new information. I am thankful for each and every thread, because that means a few more people who will be prepared, who won't be shocked and desperately searching for something to feed their children, something to keep them alive.

I want to add that volcanoes keep sending more and more ash and mess into the sky, which then circulates all around the world. The more of that, the less sun and heat we will have. We have to factor this into our gardening - have a plan for protection of our growing parameters. Lights? That would help - could grow indoors. Grid down? So much for lights. All needs to be considered, beginning now. Lots of brilliant minds here - so working together we can solve these issues before they become functional problems.

Well done, OP - as I said earlier - great job on this thread!

Yup, corn is in nearly everything, contrary to the foolish persons who have said in this thread that they don't eat corn and don't care about corn. Time to learn a thing!

Re: Ready for the Real Hunger Games? 19 Million Acres Will Not Be Planted This Year
Farms in the grain belt are so waterlogged 6 million acres of corn may not be planted. Add to that soybeans, and you are talking about massive grain shortages.

6 million acres of corn produce, on average, 54 billion pounds of dry kernel corn. That's 168 pounds of corn per every person in the US that will not exist next year.

Add to that 4 million acres of soybeans potentially not planted. That would be 34 pounds per person lost.

UPDATE, July 4th

There's indications this is a global crop failure tied to the solar minimum. Crop losses may be more than the 20% - 30% as was estimated last month - some estimates are more than 50%.

Food shortages later this month? Food riots by August - September?

"Professor Valentina Zharkova says that what we are facing is a “super grand solar minimum”, and if that is true we are going to be facing climate chaos like we have never seen before. During previous “grand solar minimums” the globe was gripped by devastating famines and vast numbers of people died. Could a similar scenario potentially be in our future?"

 Quoting: Cheyenne

So happy more and more people are "getting it". We've been talking about this and preparing for it for months in Thread: Practical Prepping Protocol even if Poor

Many are laughing, saying it's a nothingburger. What will they be feeding their children when the time comes?

It's no laughing matter - the food just won't be available. People don't get how many of our ordinary daily foods contain some form of corn. And corn is required to produce ethanol, which is required for our gasoline to power our vehicles - what do they suppose this will do to gas prices?

Feed for cattle, chickens, pigs, ducks, goats, sheep, turkeys, all the meat forms we eat several times per week. What happens to meat prices?

Soy beans, wheat - what of our daily foods contains wheat? Only almost everything.

Think, people, think!

OP, five stars. Well done!
 Quoting: Pooka

If you think you will plant a garden or go to the woods, and have not lived that way good luck, if you have kids you need a cushion some food put up your garden will help but it is hard unless you are doing it now bugs and pests ect. Coyotes got 4 of my young 2 month old rabbits this week, It's OK i had 40+ of them. they are dog food now.

For anyone that wants to do something about long term food storage, because i have wasted a lot of store bought.
25 year shelve life, Best value for basic food is by far
Prividentliving.org food storage, they have many locations mostly in the US. cheapest if u pick it up. I am not a member but they sell to everyone. You can buy a #10 can or case of 6, Basics rice beans oats oat meal wheat pasta milk ect.
Entrees freeze dried Augaston Farms walmart or sams on line shop for deals half price.
Water filter Alexapure gravity retail $230 got mine for $99
Feed store cheep whole oats cut oats rolled oats corn wheat like .25 cents a pound.
I rotate it as chicken rabbit food treats
I may have gone a little overboard with over 5 million calories of food put up. But i can sleep knowing it is done, I will be 80 + when it reaches it end of its shelve life.
Gott go. Be safe, no fear.

Good, it's probably all Glyphosate tainted GMO poison anyways. Reap what you sow!! For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord, amen.
 Quoting: Free Indeed 73

Good! No food for anyone, because it's GMO and has RoundUp in it. We don't want any of that, and thus we prefer to starve today and watch our children sob with hunger as they waste away. Right?

You have never been hungry, have you? So you don't have te least idea of which you speak.

If you do not eat what is available, what will you eat? You said nothing about raising a garden, a cow, chickens, nothing to provide yourself with non-GMO foods. What will you eat? Nothing at all - just go hungry, get smaller, die.

Great thinking, Free Indeed! Great thinking!

Funny everyone has a garden this year .. so you are wrong
 Quoting: Joeyz 77672329

Everyone? Every single person and family in this country has a garden this year? That would certainly be ideal, but it's not happening. Very few people, compared to the entire population, have gardens this or any other year.

Look in the cities- where are the gardens in the apartment complexes? In the tenements? Between the row houses? Even in lovely or awful residential neighborhoods, very few grow a garden. The nicer homes have gardeners and beautiful flowers, shrubs, ornamental trees. Nothing to eat, though.

Will you be able to feed your family all fall, winter and spring on the amount you are growing? Are you sure? Do you know how to preserve it? What will you do for the meat that didn't grow in your garden? And the eggs from chickens that didn't grow in the garden? And on and on.

Having any part of a garden is a start, and I congratulate you for that. Do not believe, however, that you will have all the food you need for your family for a year from that garden. Start counting plants and rows and jars and freezer space and if you have a pressure canner, because vegetables other than tomatoes MUST be pressure canned.

It's not as easy as saying "everybody has a garden this year". If that were true, we would be really far better shape. Maybe someday it will be true. We can pray for that, anyway.

Hay does not need to be replanted every year. Some cows do just fine on natural field grasses that don't need to be planted at all. Having milk animals is a good thing in bad-crop years. Yet our leaders want to move us towards getting rid of animals and eating only their gmo crap. soft famine would be a kindness at this point if it woke us up to the need to get away from dependence on corporate farming. Monsanto has destroyed crop diversity which actually leaves us extremely vulnerable to famine via crop disease. Now that most of the wheat is of a single variety, it could all be wiped out easily by disease. Think about it, if the Irish had practiced crop diversity in the types of potatoes that were planted, their famine would not have affected the whole country.

You are right, real food is more expensive than we realize. The low price of food is a measure of its value. Corn fed meat isn't healthy. The fat from grass fed cows is a health food and the fat from corn fed cows is a poison. They are chemically different.

The only way we will ever again be able to afford healthy meat, is to start leaving the cities and return to a more agrarian economy.
