yes there was.. thats the year I first noticed them but they were probably around years before then.

they 'grey days' didnt start until ~2000 tho

I have about 100 VHS tapes of MTVs first years. recorded it every day when it was new. no longer have a VCR and never watched them again after I recording them but I left them run so it recorded all the commercials and everything.

I wonder if they will ever be useful for anything? lol
