JFK was mainly a nice-looking, charismatic liberal Democrat with a nice-looking wife and nice-looking kids. His liberalism, however, was admittedly still within the confines of an America that hadn't yet been stretched and broken by his fellow Democrats/liberals in the years following his death. Kennedy wasn't exactly the biggest fan of Lyndon Johnson. But I doubt JFK would have have been all that opposed to Johnson's Great Society program. A ramping-up of liberalism that kicked off a lot of the corruption and decay we're witnessing today. Hindsight is 20/20, and nostalgia is filtered through thick rose-colored glasses. . |
