The Chest port is still in and we will find out more about when they are going to remove that on the 28th. Quoting: BBQ BOY™ Thanks for keeping us in your prayers GLP ! Start giving your boy diluted fresh pressed organic juices to fortify his system at the cellular level, BBQ. Try and work up to undiluted juice. Smoothies work well to cleanse and sweep out old toxic waste build-up which will surely help him rally and recover better. FIBER! Lots of it!!! Help to detox your son naturally and daily with alkaline nutrients. There's many fruits and vegetables he cannot eat because of high vitamin D and C levels as well as Iron. Potassium and Phosphorus also do more damage than good at this point. His kidneys won't process those items any longer so they wind up poisoning his blood. ( hence the Dialysis) When this first started we thought Healthy and Organic would be the route to go. But in CKD its not always the case. Also his liquids intake need to be keep below 32 ounces a day. Juicy fruits and things like soup and stew are part of that 32 ounces. Diet is a big concern for us, but we have learned a lot. And through that we have also lost a bunch of weight. Dakota is down over 100 lbs since the day he was admitted to the hospital (Sept 28 2019) my wife and I have dropped almost 50 lbs each. We can't afford to cook separately for him so we eat what he eats. make sure his potassium and phosphorus levels do not drop too low. I have seen this happen - there is no one size fits all in diet on dialysis, even if Fresenius pushes that idea. If you put out a lot of urine, potassium is probably not a concern. I have seen 1700 ccs of urine output a day with a GFR of 8. Dialysis needed, but eat what you want! (they finally agreed no salt, potassium or phosphorus restrictions needed) Last Edited by beeches on 02/19/2020 05:07 PM Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." Marcus Tullius Cicero |

Nutrition IS so important, and it must be right for the one eating it! I made a Valentine for the Fresenius staff - a lacy heart connected to two kidneys below - they loved it. I'm no hippie vegan but that being said I never discount the power of organic nutrients as I've seen personally what they can do to help rally a severely ailing body. Slow pressed greens with just enough fruit to sweeten or better yet, none at all and use lemon for taste. Organic juicing of greens and herbs is a very powerful way to lose the excess weight, which is usually a precursor for all sickness and disease, without starving the body and bring the whole body into stasis as it heals and fortifies at the cellular level. For instance, Pomegranate juice has been shown to greatly reduce complications in dialysis patients. Dakota was just about out of his Binders, it's the most expensive of his meds around $1300 a month and they gave him a 30 day supply and said they would bill him. I have issues with some of their tactics over there, but this came in right on time. "Never underestimate the pain of a person. In all honesty, everyone is struggling.
