make sure his potassium and phosphorus levels do not drop too low. I have seen this happen - there is no one size fits all in diet on dialysis, even if Fresenius pushes that idea.

If you put out a lot of urine, potassium is probably not a concern.
I have seen 1700 ccs of urine output a day with a GFR of 8.

Dialysis needed, but eat what you want!

(they finally agreed no salt, potassium or phosphorus restrictions needed)

oh and iron fine too - calf liver almost daily to get hemoglobin up from the basement

their shots did not do the trick

they are fine with the results of liver with an orange juice chaser


as said, take their diet with a grain of salt.

Yes we are happy the graft got in also. He has a follow up appointment on the 28th that will tell us more. Be glad to see that Chest port come out.

We are not really following the Fresenius diet but are making adjustments to his diet from the monthly Lab work reports he gets back.

I completely understand and please know I only intended to help ease your dilemma. I'm no hippie vegan but that being said I never discount the power of organic nutrients as I've seen personally what they can do to help rally a severely ailing body. Slow pressed greens with just enough fruit to sweeten or better yet, none at all and use lemon for taste. Organic juicing of greens and herbs is a very powerful way to lose the excess weight, which is usually a precursor for all sickness and disease, without starving the body and bring the whole body into stasis as it heals and fortifies at the cellular level. Yes we understand, and we do read all links provided and are open to all suggestions and questions. We are not Pros at this each day is a new learning experience for us. Our main concern at this time is caring and providing for our sons needs and following the best course of action. We are grateful for your input.

Brief update: We got a huge blessing today from the people at Fresenius. Dakota was just about out of his Binders, it's the most expensive of his meds around $1300 a month and they gave him a 30 day supply and said they would bill him.

I have issues with some of their tactics over there, but this came in right on time.

Praying for Dakota, brother, and throwing some prayers for his parents, too.

I know you are inundated with advice and recommendations, but is there a way to call the manufacturer of this drug and see if they have a reduced price program for indigent patients? 1300 a month. Holy Cow!

The Patent holder for the Binders is none other than Fresenius and one of its Subsidiaries. That's the same place where Dakota gets his Dialysis 3 times a week.

Thank you everyone. With this Covid-19 situation we are really finding ourselves in a possible predicament. We have to be at Medical centers three times a week at the minimum. Currently just keeping everything including ourselves very Clean. But we also realize we will be at a higher risk of exposure once this thing takes off.
