Otherwise you're just gonna get left behind. Wish it weren't so, but it is and I don't see that changing anytime soon. |

The middle class are slowly becoming extinct. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77994583 Trickle down economics was always BS. Money flows from the bottom upward. A bubble up economy. American's bailed out those banks to help the economy. The banks in turn sat on the money and kept if for interest. Would have helped the economy more just to hand the money to the citizens themselves and let them buy things they didn't need. Would have had more of bolstering effect on the economy. But, the banks and corporations own the politicians so they get all the representation. |

Still remember staying Lin line for 2 hours to buy a bread, but hey everyone was equal! |

I finally got fed up with living paycheck to paycheck and actually started budgeting and cutting out unnecessary shit, which led me to quit smoking and then quit vaping, and quit drinking. Now I don't even buy soda but rarely and limit myself to one normal size cup of coffee in the morning. Sleep has dramatically improved and I retain much energy throughout the day. Got my bills caught up and credit is dramatically improving whereas I used to think it was a lost cause. Some of it is luck, as I can and do repair my own vehicles (which I paid cash for) Now I have the money to buy nicer things if I want, but I still try to be frugal. At the end of the day, people have to want to better themselves. Would probably be a good idea to simply teach people things like THAT rather than telling them that the government will always be there handing them shit. But of course we all know the agenda. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78310900 United States 01/19/2020 03:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The problem is that only control freak psychos need to be better than others. They crave power and wealth. They can have it all. The next life is going to be plenty warm where they’ll end up. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71088931 Money doesn't make a person better than others, it just makes them richer and more powerful. However, everyone needs to make enough money for a comfortable and happy life, and when the wealthy withhold that from their employees, there is a problem. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78173554 United States 01/19/2020 03:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | in 2012 the top 10% earners took home more than 50% of all income Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20038442 that's the highest % in last 100 years By 2015, America’s top 10% already averaged more than nine times as much income as the bottom 90%. And Americans in the top 1% averaged over 40 times more income than the bottom 90%. The chart below shows a breakdown of average household incomes ranging from the bottom 90% to the top .1%. To get to the top 10% you only need to make $120k, that's a husband and wife filing jointly with modest middle class jobs. See how they slide that shit down? It used to be let's kill the 1%, now it's the 10%. Poor people won't make more money until we start building things in America again, that's how dumb people get a good income. The people in the bottom 25% of income are never going to be doctors and lawyers, for them it's either work on an assembly line for good money or work at Dunkin Donuts serving coffee to people with jobs that actually accomplish something. Regulations are making those people poor, make us competitive to manufacture shit and the money will come. You don't even need to roll back environmental regulations, just get rid of the red tape. People aren't building factories here because it takes 5 years to make sure there aren't any tree frogs in the area before they can get a permit... fuck the tree frogs I'm on team people. |

Forum Administrator 01/19/2020 04:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Part of the reason is poor vs. not poor ways. Poor people often stay poor because they never learned long term planning. My poor relatives plan for what booze they will drink each weekend. I am planning out for my future grandchildren. IOW, the poor don't plan forward, the not poor plan generations forward. Yes, I know there are outliers in both categories. I am speaking in very general terms. How did I become not poor? When growing up, a friends parents taught me the value of planning & deferred gratification, AND, I was smart/wise enough to listen & learn. Forum Administrator 01/19/2020 04:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the middle class has buried themselves in debt with over priced housing ,cars etc but the pay has stopped going up. Quoting: yerpvana This means the shit will come to a head soon. Part of that is the middle class not understanding that cars, for instance, are transportation. Don't stretch to purchase a depreciating asset that is beyond your means. Buy a reliable car, coming off a 2 year lease, keep it at least for 8-10 years. Houses? Once again, stay within your means. If you cannot easily afford & maintain that 4,000 sq ft home, get something smaller in a good neighborhood. Don't pay $1 in mortgage interest so you can get back .25 cents on your taxes.
