IMO, this is mostly due to the increasing corporatization of the economy. A trend which has vastly accelerated over the last 10 years thanks to super low interest rates which make it easy and inexpensive for corporations to borrow and buy out private companies.

Only way for most people to get a piece of that pie is by investing in stocks and bonds. Otherwise you're just gonna get left behind. Wish it weren't so, but it is and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Trickle down economics was always BS. Money flows from the bottom upward. A bubble up economy.

American's bailed out those banks to help the economy. The banks in turn sat on the money and kept if for interest.

Would have helped the economy more just to hand the money to the citizens themselves and let them buy things they didn't need. Would have had more of bolstering effect on the economy.

But, the banks and corporations own the politicians so they get all the representation.

It's because there are too many opportunities for growth, maybe growth should be banned and everyone will be equally poor just like it was back in the day in the communist block. Still remember staying Lin line for 2 hours to buy a bread, but hey everyone was equal!

As a formerly poor person, I agree.

Poor people tend to make poor decisions.

I finally got fed up with living paycheck to paycheck and actually started budgeting and cutting out unnecessary shit, which led me to quit smoking and then quit vaping, and quit drinking. Now I don't even buy soda but rarely and limit myself to one normal size cup of coffee in the morning. Sleep has dramatically improved and I retain much energy throughout the day.

Got my bills caught up and credit is dramatically improving whereas I used to think it was a lost cause.

Some of it is luck, as I can and do repair my own vehicles (which I paid cash for)

Now I have the money to buy nicer things if I want, but I still try to be frugal.


At the end of the day, people have to want to better themselves. Would probably be a good idea to simply teach people things like THAT rather than telling them that the government will always be there handing them shit. But of course we all know the agenda.

To me, rich getting dumber and poor getting smarter.

How are the poor getting poorer when ALL I SEE IS THAT MINIMUM WAGE IS GOING UP AND UP AND UP.

Maybe the planet where the poor are getting poorer and poorer is not planet earth and is just pretending to be my planet earth.

The problem is that only control freak psychos need to be better than others. They crave power and wealth. They can have it all. The next life is going to be plenty warm where they’ll end up.

Money doesn't make a person better than others, it just makes them richer and more powerful. However, everyone needs to make enough money for a comfortable and happy life, and when the wealthy withhold that from their employees, there is a problem.

To get to the top 10% you only need to make $120k, that's a husband and wife filing jointly with modest middle class jobs.

Poor people often stay poor because they never learned long term planning. My poor relatives plan for what booze they will drink each weekend. I am planning out for my future grandchildren. IOW, the poor don't plan forward, the not poor plan generations forward.

Yes, I know there are outliers in both categories. I am speaking in very general terms.

How did I become not poor? When growing up, a friends parents taught me the value of planning & deferred gratification, AND, I was smart/wise enough to listen & learn.

Part of that is the middle class not understanding that cars, for instance, are transportation. Don't stretch to purchase a depreciating asset that is beyond your means. Buy a reliable car, coming off a 2 year lease, keep it at least for 8-10 years.

Houses? Once again, stay within your means. If you cannot easily afford & maintain that 4,000 sq ft home, get something smaller in a good neighborhood. Don't pay $1 in mortgage interest so you can get back .25 cents on your taxes.

I agree, but they must be willing to shut-up, listen, learn and apply. I have found it difficult to help most because they will not do those 4 little things.
