The much lighter F1 car was at a clear disadvantage over a mile when the downforce design of the car hindered its top-speed potential vs that of an unhindered Bugatti - a car specifically designed FOR top-speed. I went out to Fontana International Raceway back in the late 1990s for a $10 entry-fee TT practice. And I was sitting only 25' away from these incredible Indy cars blowing by me at 242-244 mph that day for the starting position battle. Two fences separated me from the cars flying down that straightaway. The next year they changed the rules for the racecars, forcing them to use less downforce, and thus slowing down the laptimes and danger for the cars (and spectators). [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Plant vs Alvarez is going to be very interesting. Two aggressive fighters that won't want to concentrate on any defense. As it will be full-speed offensive vs offensive. Canelo will shake his head at Plant's punches early on and will say "you can't hurt me, hombre." I think stamina will be a huge factor in that fight, especially in the later rounds, where whoever is the better conditioned will win those later rounds (and likely the final decision). Expect a decision after 12 nice rounds.
