Awesome. The Preble county sheriff has declared he will not enforce the lockdown edict. So now it is a showdown.

Will the governor send in the state police to do the enforcement? Will the sheriff arrest the state police? There is going to be some spilled blood.

I hope other rural counties do the same thing. In the meantime there will be a lot of Dayton people heading out to the few restaurants in that county.

They will vote on a change to Ohio law that will remove any power that the health director has. Then they will re-open the state completely. But I don't think the governor will allow this. And there are enough democrats in the Ohio legislature to prevent an override of the governor's veto.

every business is essential, to the livelihoods (putting food on the table) of the workers.. and to keeping the general economy functional. Let the owners and customers figure out best how to deal with any issues having to do with "social distancing", etc. Nanny state government of course knows better than those closest to the action.

People were already talking about just driving to Richmond because they are opening up.

I'm wondering.....what is the difference between sheriff and city police? The videos I'm seeing of police overstepping are just traffic cops. But we've got this sheriff Dept and I had read about the sheriff's in Michigan refusing to enforce things. Why is it the sheriff's stepping up?

I think they’ll continue, like many others have said, reinstating the school-shootings and stupid news script over the summer while they analyze their results (how people react, mask compliance estimation by geography etc), then dial up the covid-19 fear meme again in the fall and early winter, just in time for flu season and another abandoned school year. Death by a thousand cuts. yawn wake me up if a SWAT team is at the door with a syringe for not wearing a mask at Walmart.

16 confirmed cases in Preble County, and ONE death. That person was 69 years old. The county health department did not release any other data about the death.

Police are the merely employees of a police department.

Preble County Public Health (PCPH) issued a statement addressing the Friday, May 1, 2020 meeting with the Preble County Commissioners. The statement clarifies, "PCPH would like to reiterate that our department will be enforcing the Stay Safe Ohio order. It is the law and our job to do so.
