Would you mind if I went to a place where your family was spending time and I wore no pants? Why should you push pants on me when you can't take care of seeing a grown man naked? Why is it my responsibility to keep your daughters from seeing me in all my natural beauty?

You know why? It's part of the social contract. We decide to forgo some things we *could* do in order to live together peacefully. Sometimes that involves sacrifice. Sometimes it involves you taking the extra step to protect the general public. In this case, since you might at some time become infected and contagious, yet be unaware of it, your very breath alone might become a hazard to those in public around you. So we ask as part of a responsible member of society, that you put a mask on in a public space in order to save lives until such time as we are able to get a handle on this. Why are you acting like Cain...."am I my brother's keeper?" Why can't you give a little of yourself? It's not even asking much. It's like you've grown up spoiled and sheltered and have never had to suffer at all and when asked to inconvenience yourself in the most mild way to save the lives of others, you throw a tantrum. You need to do some real soul searching.

This divisiveness and foolishness has me about ready to pull my hair out.

There is a contagion, and it is killing a great number of people, but not as many as are being reported.

Wearing a light face covering DOES impede the spread and lessen any pathogenic load allowing one's immune system to over come the pathogen. It protects BOTH the one wearing a mask and anyone they come into contact with.

Yes, there is a tremendous amount of propaganda flying on ALL sides of this, and it's incredibly difficult to break through that and get actual facts separated from fiction.

Here is an article with link to one clear study on the efficacy of masks. They work, and they don't have to be n95 masks. Pathogens have to attach to particles to spread through the nose and mouth. They don't have wings and fly on their own.

1- The Lockdown was to stop the medical system from being overwhelmed. Not to eliminate the disease.

2- Liberty is being imposed on by sinister people trying to take every inch they can get from this crisis, but YOU give them that inch by not being careful and acting belligerent.

3- Wearing a mask doesn’t make you a pussy, not wearing one because what you think someone else might think does. It shows respect for the health of those around you and helps finish this Lockdown sooner. When the second wave comes. 1) Masks stop what YOU spread to others. If everyone wears a mask for others, that means that others are wearing a mask for YOU. If everyone did that for others, we actually would stop transmission. Why can't you think outside of what's good for YOU and think about what's good for OTHERS.

2) Viral inoculum size is indeed correlated with outcome. So if you are wearing a mask and still get infected, but because you filtered out some of the virus but not all, you end up with a smaller initial viral load meaning it takes longer for the virus to replicate to numbers that would overwhelm your immune system buying your immune system valuable time to develop antibodies. This is why doctors and nurses are getting hit so hard...they get too much virus because of all the patients they are exposed to. Meanwhile, a simple surgical mask on you, while not 100% protective, will indeed filter *some* particles increasing your odds of a mild illness rather than severe.

on both of these counts masks significantly contribute to our ability to defeat this and get back to some form of normalcy.

Guess what, there are far fewer germs on surfaces if asymptomatic people are wearing masks and aren't breathing their plague breath all over everything. Again, it's a community response, not a self-centered selfish child response. Start acting like an adult and be responsible.

Masks work, I have lived in Japan for periods of time and look at the outbreak numbers in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea. Way under the numbers in the west.
