Originally it was about flattening the curve and not overwhelming hospitals.

We did that.

Now the stay at home orders are being extended months, until treatments or vaccines.

BULL-FUCKING-SHIT!

This is about destroying the US economy and stealing our election through mail in ballot FRAUD.

Not sure if you noticed, but I am not for extending the stay at home orders or for staying "locked down".

And I fully agree that this is being used to push through a totalitarian one world order and destroying America. I don't want that to happen at all!

For those going on about all the other potential avenues of contamination and infection, the DOMINANT route of transmission is through the mouth and nose. Yes, your hands can transmit it to your eyes, nose, mouth, and if someone coughs or sneezes and isn't wearing a mask/face covering it can easily go in through your eyes.

Again, what is being promoted here is mitigation and intelligent re-opening that doesn't result in a hotbed of new infections and pathogenic overload. Lower amounts of pathogens can provide general immunity without causing serious harm.

1) Masks stop what YOU spread to others. If everyone wears a mask for others, that means that others are wearing a mask for YOU. If everyone did that for others, we actually would stop transmission. Why can't you think outside of what's good for YOU and think about what's good for OTHERS.

2) Viral inoculum size is indeed correlated with outcome. So if you are wearing a mask and still get infected, but because you filtered out some of the virus but not all, you end up with a smaller initial viral load meaning it takes longer for the virus to replicate to numbers that would overwhelm your immune system buying your immune system valuable time to develop antibodies. This is why doctors and nurses are getting hit so hard...they get too much virus because of all the patients they are exposed to. Meanwhile, a simple surgical mask on you, while not 100% protective, will indeed filter *some* particles increasing your odds of a mild illness rather than severe.

on both of these counts masks significantly contribute to our ability to defeat this and get back to some form of normalcy.

Guess what, there are far fewer germs on surfaces if asymptomatic people are wearing masks and aren't breathing their plague breath all over everything. Again, it's a community response, not a self-centered selfish child response. Start acting like an adult and be responsible.

There is a contagion, and it is killing a great number of people, but not as many as are being reported.

Wearing a light face covering DOES impede the spread and lessen any pathogenic load allowing one's immune system to over come the pathogen. It protects BOTH the one wearing a mask and anyone they come into contact with.

Yes, there is a tremendous amount of propaganda flying on ALL sides of this, and it's incredibly difficult to break through that and get actual facts separated from fiction.

Here is an article with link to one clear study on the efficacy of masks. They work, and they don't have to be n95 masks. Pathogens have to attach to particles to spread through the nose and mouth. They don't have wings and fly on their own.

We have actual cures, but what we don't have is general immunity. We do not need a vaccine, we simply need to act intelligently and be cautious. Not frightened, but cautious.

We need to start wearing masks/face coverings when out in public. It's a cheap and effective way to slow down the spread. A minor inconvenience at most!

I thought the antibodies were the reason herd immunity doesn't work with this virus. The antibodies cause a cykotine storm and the antibodies don't leave if you recover leaving you diseased.
