Arlington is Virginia soil and the home of Robert E lee before the North confiscated it. How about we bury Warren at sea so she can be forgotten?
 Quoting: FlashBuzzkill

Arlington IS part of the United States, and the confederacy was a treasonous rebellion fomented by a few rich fuckers in the south. Hundreds of thousands of stupid bastards died fighting that dumb war, half of them fighting for their own POVERTY.

Yeah, well. That's a common neo-Marxist position taught in many universities.

Looks like we'll fight another civil war to keep neo-Marxist from running the country.

I say burn all the neo-Marxists and dump their ashes in the ocean. Commies shouldn't be allowed to desecrate American soil.

Less than 50%:
"If passed as-is, this amendment would require that the federal government desecrate the graves of 482 Confederate soldiers buried in Arlington National Cemetery. The soldiers are buried in a circle around a massive, 106-year-old monument commemorating the Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. Every President since Teddy Roosevelt has laid a wreath at this monument. Yes, that includes Barack H. Obama. He paid his respects to the Confederate dead buried in Arlington back in 2009.

Warren's amendment would require that the memorial be removed from the grounds of Arlington. It is impossible to do this without disturbing the grave sites around the monument…

But it actually gets worse. Elizabeth Warren's amendment is so poorly written that while it gives an exception for gravestones, it does not exempt the graves themselves. Since being buried in Arlington is considered an honor, a literal reading of Warren's bill would require these Civil War soldiers to be exhumed and moved off the premises. Just think about how small of a person someone would have to be to write an amendment in 2020 that could force the exhumation of 482 Civil War soldiers because they disagree with the cause they fought for…

Even in a best case scenario, the graves would get to stay, but Arlington wouldn't be able to advertise where they're located. No signage… no mention in the maps… no helpful directions from staff… Anyone who has ever been to Arlington looking for a specific grave knows it is next to impossible to do without help and directions. So best case, the Confederates get to stay buried, but no one would be allowed to know where they are…"

The tradition is to allow enemy soldiers to be buried on our soil and their graves marked, but not to honor them in any way. This includes the south. I dont think anyone is suggesting exhuming them either.

The problem is not the memorials so much as the attempt to make treason seem honorable by placing statues or obelisks to honor them. This is just wrong, it's no different than putting a statue of Mao Se Dong in central park.

Well, supposedly, that cemetery has a lot of bodies of children buried underneath. Could it be that Warren and whoever else is pushing this, is actually on Trump's side and wants the graves dug up so they can find the evidence? The timing of this seems so strange, as it's at the same time as Ghislane getting arrested, and #WayfairGate being exposed. I just have a feeling this all might be part of the plan to continue to bust open in the public the real truths about the world.

Just my 2 cents.

And the reason that Warren might do this, is because they have dirt on her and she given a choice.. do this or you will be exposed. Trump and co would want this to come for the left, not someone on the right.

LOL, comparing soldiers fighting for their state with one of the top 5 mass murderers of all time is quite the false equivalence.

Stop trying to view the past through the lens of today. People of that time were much more loyal to their state than the fed govt.

They were all given a choice, betray country or betray state. They knew if they betrayed their state, they could never set foot there again. That was a big deal, one that most in this country can not understand. Your state was your family, your home, your identity.

Yes, they were traitors. After the war was over, the decision was made (for the sake of brevity) not to treat them as such, for the sake of the nation.

It's completely conceivable that had the fed govt executed a large number of Confederates, we would have been right back in another civil war in 10-20 years.

Because our country doesn't work like others, that genocide the losers and their sympathizers, cover it all over, and carry on with the regime.

My Dad is a WWII vet and both of my parents are buried at a National Cemetery. This sets a horrible precedent. What happens when someone decides the War he fought in was wrong and decides to desecrate my parent's graves? It belongs to the Lakotah nation now because the US government ratified the treaty that says it does in the Senate and the President signed it. The US Supreme court upheld it in 1980. Recently in the past several days, the supreme court ruled the treaties made by the US government with Indian nations were binding treaties by US Constitutional law.

The South did not start the war, asshole, the Federal Government did, without any authority to do so.

The Republic union was VOLUNTARY, it was not a requirement, the Federal Government broke the contract (Constitutional agreement with the States).

This is why they want to change our history, to cement the idea that the Federal Government is god and the Government is the power in this land, it is not and will not be the truth. The people are the power, not the Federal Government.

Arlington is Virginia soil and the home of Robert E lee before the North confiscated it. How about we bury Warren at sea so she can be forgotten?

The only thing the civil war really means to me is that for 5 years you fuckers were too busy killing each other to kill us.

I speak from an "american" perspective which is not mine when I condemn the CSA as traitors. If they'd won the war for confederate independence we'd probably have been able to hold you fuckers off, too.

Arlington IS part of the United States, and the confederacy was a treasonous rebellion fomented by a few rich fuckers in the south. Hundreds of thousands of stupid bastards died fighting that dumb war, half of them fighting for their own POVERTY.

Question: how does any for the lack of a better term "state" join the Union?

Extra Bonus question: wouldn't the legal means for secession the same basic process in reverse?
