User ID: 38487486 United States 08/09/2020 10:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Multiple quakes last night . This morning was 5.1. I am two hundred miles away and heard and felt the one last night at about quarter to one in the morning . It knocked the screen out of an upstairs window . I live alittle North of Raleigh. Bless you for posting this observation b/c swear to gawd, as those t-storms just developed and literally sat over our area, I kept thinking to myself, 'the ground, the house is shaking and it is constant sensation.' Chalked it up to these storms and serious lightning discharge. Now I know I'm right. As a side note from an ol' country gal, people need to pay close attn to all animals. They just act weird prior to quakes and tornadoes. Seen if firsthand. If critters are normal and a quake happens, especially a shallow one, then odds are it's frackin' operation or taking out of something under our feet. That's what's kind of strange, we're about an hour away from Sparta and got no reactions from the dogs or horses even though we felt it. |

That makes them a “noobie” somehow? Look, that was the first mag reported on the thread. People's reaction to a 2.6 seemed an overreaction to me....I've lived in both the Philippines and Cali, I've been in some real shakers. I then came to find out it was a 5.1, and that made the reaction understandable. I've also seen someone who was in their first EQ, and it scared the kwap outta them....it was also a 5-pointer. After you've been in NUMEROUS 5+ - 7+ EQs, they become not as....unnerving....although they are unnerving, but to a much less degree. Henceforth, my comment. Heh, I no longer live in EQ country. The 1989 one in San Francisco plucked my last standing nerve right out.... I figure there are no guarantees when it comes to EQs. I lived in SE KS for years and we had a bunch - there and in OK. Most were in OK, but we could feel them where we were in Wichita. People blamed it on fracking. The first strong one the house was moving and I went running outside thinking there was a bulldozer trying to knock the house down. LOL! But there was nothing there, and I thought, "Oh, that's what an earth quake feels like!" Now I move back to Georgia and we are having them here, too. Go figure. |

My cats didn't even move much less act up before or even during the quake. Hubby and I are feeling weird since though ... woozy, I feel like I'm constantly swaying, weird. |

Yeah, after leaving Cali I went to Florida....thought I was safe, but noooo. I was sitting in front of my PC and felt the familiar shaking....there was a rogue 6.1 in the Gulf. I gotta tell ya, it was nice to finally have things hanging on the walls 'cause I knew they weren't going to fall on my head. Then, there was also one in the Springs in Colorado. We were on the third story of an apt. building, and it swayed pretty good. My roomie was the one who it was her first EQ. Poor thing. I don't think there's a "safe" place on the planet, but there are some that are better than others. I'll take my chances with the high winds and dust storms and possible flooding here in New Mexico.....over EQs? Anyday! You never change things by fighting the existing reality. User ID: 74619032 United States 08/09/2020 12:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | LOL. In places like California, Mexico or New Zealand, a 2.6 is not much more noticeable than someone farting. The Philippines.... I woke up one night and my bed was bouncing around the room like it was possessed. I was only about six and it scared the bejesus outta me..... My mom injured her arm while freaking out during that one.... You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
