I fly Delta a good amount, and when I connect in Atlanta the chances are pretty good that I get a flight attendant crew that is mostly of the darker persuasion. I've noticed (for years) that my "white privilege" either results in poor treatment from these crews, or that they just treat everyone poorly compared to the other crews I see.

Anecdotal, yes. But I used to go to any checker at the supermarket because I didn't think it mattered. But I've seen now that "white privilege" gets me poor treatment from the people who don't look closer to my appearance, so now I go to the one or two checkers who do look more like me. Those are the only ones who actually acknowledge that I am return customer too.

So yeah, this whole "systemic racism" thing has opened my eyes to how the racism is actually against us.

Where I worked they would have replaced me with a POC just for the federal rewards of hiring them. It was real physical work so they didn't want it.

I agree with the person who said this has been happening already in California. I was born and raised in SoCal. When I was a teenager and in my 20s I applied for remedial jobs (retail, general office, etcetera) and the applications would always ask specifically "Are you Hispanic (non-white) or Hispanic (non-black)." No other questions of race except that one.

That indicated to me that these companies were obviously giving preference to Hispanic applicants, and not because they cared either, but because they were obviously getting tax breaks from the government.

And I am a person of color, which I NEVER call myself, because that is just cringe!!! I actually never think of my race, except when people being this sh!t up. I am actually a mixed person. My father is black and my mother is Latin (not Hispanic), but people see you and just consider you black.

Anyway, I say this only to say that I've encountered racism from Hispanics here in Southern California as well as racism from black people that are darker than I am. And I know I've lost job opportunities here because I'm not Hispanic. But in general, in California, American citizens are treated as second class to immigrants anyways. We don't get or it's very hard to get any benefits. Meanwhile, they're just given away to immigrants. Sanctuary state in full effect.

Ha! This is a joke. I work for Delta, and it's the most diverse company I've ever worked for, and I'm from and live in a major US city.

And the poster that said his white privilege gets him bad treatment from black employees at Delta. This is likely true. I've seen firsthand my black coworkers treat white people bad simply because they are white. Not all of the black employees are like this, bit just enough to give the airline a bad name.

Ed Bastian, the CEO, is pandering to the media. He wants that 2nd bailout sooooo bad! Even after he got rid of something like 30 percent of employees through his threats of laying off if we didn't take the retirement package.

Now he's saying he's going to hire more people. Is the airline industry in dire straights or not? They need to make up their mind and stop bending over to the latest SJW cause (wearing masks and now racism) just for money. Where I'm from that's called prostituting yourself. Hear me Ed?

Personally, I neither know nor care what race I am. I'm smart, independent, and don't need a job anymore unless there's a non-financial benefit. I'll work hard if I get a real incentive to take a job. That is all.
