So they just gonna march across the Pacific to the Cali shores... They don't have enough landing craft... They can try an airborne assault, but we'd shoot them out of the skies... |

They are authoritilative and constantly updated. [link to www.everycrsreport.com (secure)] There are some older think tank ones. I was looking at one about six months ago. Many times more is not better if they are inferior. At issue is the replacement rate as ships would be sunk and by what means and keeping up with the maintenance schedule. |

Quoting: DuckNCover “The PRC [People’s Republic of China] has the largest navy in the world, with an overall battle force of approximately 350 ships and submarines including over 130 major surface combatants,” states the U.S. Department of Defense’s 2020 annual report to Congress on Chinese military power. “In comparison, the U.S. Navy’s battle force is approximately 293 ships as of early 2020.” [link to www.forbes.com (secure)] [link to news.usni.org (secure)] [link to www.military.com (secure)] Thanks for the Pin... In addition, the U.S. Navy's West Coast Fleet has its ships worked on in San Diego by a British Company using two Chinese dry docks. Of course, that's courtesy of Obama's administration. They also count used and badly outdated craft which are hardly any tangible threat to the modernized U.S. Fleet. A few hundred speed boats with guys holding RPG's is added to these numbers. Again yes they do have numbers but it really just makes for a nice target rich environment when it's weapons FREE-- time Not to say they don't have some nice new specialty craft that deserve attention-- Rest assured those craft are on a constant watch list. Anonymous Coward User ID: 76669091 United States 09/01/2020 09:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In a war with China our carriers will mostly be kept far away. Expect our carriers to hang out in the Indian ocean and South of the Philippines interdicting shipping. Also expect them to be sailing west of Hawaii. The carriers are too valuable to risk against a well prepared, unreduced China anywhere within a thousand miles of her coast. But one day during the war, at the most opportune moment the carrier groups will arrive in the South China Sea. And on that day their planes and missiles will strike at a thousand targets. A carrier is a lot to risk, and delivers a powerful blow. Much like a hard right hook to a boxer. It's a punch that opens you up to danger, but that can also end the fight. A boxer doesn't start out with hard right hooks. He nabs and jukes, wears his opponent down, gets to know him, and when the time is right he risks that right hook. |

If you count their fishing fleet illegal fishing in waters of Antarctica in the Southern Ocean, South China Sea and territorial waters of Chile/Ecuador around the Galapagos islands. Quoting: Agent MIB They are depleting the worlds fisheries at an alarming rate. Time for the US and other allies to start sinking Chinese fishing fleets like the Chinese do to Philippine, Vietnamese and Malaysian native fleets. Quoting: Chaz Aldrin A few hundred speed boats with guys holding RPG's is added to these numbers. Again yes they do have numbers but it really just makes for a nice target rich environment when it's weapons FREE-- time Not to say they don't have some nice new specialty craft that deserve attention-- Rest assured those craft are on a constant watch list. They do have a dozen or so very nice destroyers and an extensive submarine fleet. Their missiles are good too. They still can't go toe to toe with the US in blue water. But within a thousand miles of China they are absolutely capable of defeating a US fleet. In that locale their navy can exploit the cover of land based missiles, strike planes, reconnaissance planes, and sea based sensors. They are good enough in that geographical locale that disposition, sheer luck, and happenstance will probably be determining factors. The US simply can't charge in guns blazing. That's actually what China would prefer. They want a quick war. The US admirals would likely prefer a slowly tightening noose, starting with a long range blockade and denial of blue waters to China. |
