Re: Do You Remember your Dreams? ~
You only remember dreams when you wake up.
Dreams are notoriously difficult to recall. In fact, if a dream ends before we wake up, we will not remember it. The processes that allow us to create long-term memories largely lie dormant while we sleep, which is why most dreams are forgotten shortly after waking.

My Mrs. says I often speak out loud and argue with others when I dream.

The cool part is when I dream and speak in my sleep I speak Latin! I believe I may be arguing with entities or enemies now lost in antiquity.

Almost never. In fact almost never had a dream in 30 years or so.
If I did they were frustrating, like running in sand from zombies.

I took melatonin for the first time and I had very pleasant dreams. Was the first time since a kid really. Didn't remember a thing but that stuff made a difference. Have heard mixed results on using it though.

I would LOVE to know,
what is the purpose of dreams?
Mine are almost always KRAZY.
They make absolutely NO SENSE.
I can see bits and pieces of things
that happened that day, mixed with
supreme weirdness.
Sometimes very creepy, which makes me wonder
what's going on inside my noggin!

I still remember my first memorable dream,
about 5 years old, down in the club basement
there was a back room with a furnace and
laundry room.

I went back there, and this GORILLA stood
up from behind the washing machine (ringer,
1955) and came at me. I started running to
get to the stairs and it was right behind
me. The harder I tried to run up the steps
the slower I was going, before I got to
the cellar door, I woke up.

I think the gorilla came from watching
"King Kong".

Re: Do You Remember your Dreams? ~
The role of dreams in historical Christianity

The dream in biblical times

reinterpreted many of these in the light of Christian morality (Ullman & Zimmerman 1987:42). In both traditions, dreams were considered to be sources of inspiration, insight and prophecy from God (Delaney 1998:47). In the Bible itself, several references are made to the divine origin and nature of dreams (e.g. Gn 41:25, Ac 2:17, Nm 12:6 and Job 33:14). In addition to such direct commentary on the nature of dreams, both the Old and New Testaments contain several dream accounts. Most notable amongst these are the two dreams of Joseph (Gn 37 and Gn 40-41), Jacob's dream at Bethel (Gn 28), the Midianite soldier's dream (Jdg 7:13-14), Nebuchadnezzar's dreams (Dn 2 and Dn 4), Joseph's dream revealing Mary's immaculate conception (Mt 1:20), the dream the three wise men shared warning them not to return to Herod after locating Jesus (Mt 2:12-13), and the dream of Pilate's wife (Mt 27:19).

With each child right before the first ultrasound I dreamt the babies sex and hair color

First child I wanted a boy and was sure it was a boy, my dream was my Mom pushing a stroller with a little baby girl with brown curly hair and I asked my Mom why do you have my son dressed as a girl and her reply was Face it, you’re not having a boy

Second child, just a dream of a roly poly boy, blond curly hair in overalls, and he was huge!

Last child, two dreams first one was I was confused it was a girl with dark hair, second one was a baby boy with blond hair, his hair was blond when born but got darker as he grew up

Super lucid dreams most of the time which get abruptly cut off when forced to wake for work or taking naps. Scary, sexual, futuristic and many attributing to what has happened during the day.

Dreams.

Cognitive reality has a quantum wave pattern quality.

The "waking" self rejects the irrational in attempts to preserve the "ego" or self image. I am, I exist. The wave function collapses into the "self".

The dreamer sees the irrational, the collective field of intentions - the brain attempts to make sense of it. The "ego" or "self" returns to the wave function of potential., finding itself at odds, in torment struggling to hold onto the "ego".

Consciousness is a macro cognitive emergence of this realm's quantum frequency.

Yin and Yang, Order and Chaos.

For most of us, these two cognitive realities are separated. But for some unfortunate brains, the ability to decouple from the dream state doesn't occur and so they are locked in both. We call that schizophrenia.

Dreams used to serve some useful purpose in Old Testament times.
 Quoting: Icebear

IMHO, dreams are a way for the Source to inspire us when our ego isn't in play but humans have a tendacy upon waking to filter their dreams right back through the ego and screw up the message. That's another reason why a dream journal is important as if you write them down immediately, before you attempt to interpret them with the ego, the message comes through, load and clear. hf

Yes, every night. It fades fast though most days but I remember it all right when I wake up. By the time I’m eating breakfast I can hardly remember any of them.
 Quoting: Lover_Girl

Ditto that. I wake up remembering them but as the day gets started I forget them quickly.
 Quoting: My Fear

Maybe, you should try keeping a dream diary - the more you use one, the more you train your brain to remember your dream.

I lucid dream often and, during dream, I will notice something and repeat it over and over to myself in order to be able to remember it. So, I'm dreaming, but at the same time I'm completely lucid, talking to myself, reminding myself to memorise this or that in order to be able to write it down when I waken up, but I know fully and completely that I'm actually asleep and dreaming.

I couldn't always do this, but the ability came gradually once I started keeping a dream diary.

Yes. They are so realistic I believe I have been having a conversation with my Mrs. and she'll tell me no, I had instead been asleep.

It's actually a little disquieting as it makes me wonder if some memories are dreams or visions.

Fleetwood Mac was right when Stevie Nicks sang "...I keep my visions to myself."
 Quoting: Louis in Richmond

Mine are very vivid

Sometimes they effect my mood all day

I’m able to solve mathematical problems and sort out other issues in my dreams

I can control them at times too, somethings while I’m dreaming I’m telling myself it’s a dream, lol

Also go back to dreams to finish them or think about what I want to dream about

.

When I lived in West Africa I was taking an antimalarial drug called Malarone.

This gave me the most unbelievably vivid, colorful dreams. Turns out this is a common side
effect of the drug.

I have also reentered dreams after waking, but not often.

Most nights nothing.

Just Curious...
 Quoting: Bodhi Sita

Had a dream last night I was taking off on a plane near the coast. Massive waves were ahead of us. The plane veered left to avoid a wave that was headed for us. Waves were thousands of feet high. The plane was skimming the crescents. I was worried about the engines flooding and sinking in the ocean.
We eventually reached the sky and was the bluest of blues with the whitest puffy clouds I've ever seen.

The night before last I dreamt I found 2 wicker people next to a roadway. I thought not much of them until I heard 2 voices. One was of my deceased sister and one was my father. I picked them up and took them to a building.
The one of my sister came apart on me and there was a seed of some kind in the head area. I could not hear her voice when it came out. I tried putting it back in but to no avail. Had a long conversation with my father and we set aside our differences. Was a comforting dream. I woke with a smile and a lump in my throat. My father is still alive BTW, we talk but are a bit estranged.

Had an interesting one last night, GIGANTIC tsunami, thousands of feet high. Knew instantly upon waking that it symbolized massive change on a global scale.

Yes, we are seem to be currently experiencing global change but in the dream, there was first a smaller tsunami so that when the warning for a massive one went out, many people just went about their business and never looked up. Others froze in awe and fear like deer in headlights while a few quickly but calmly began heading towards higher ground.

What a nicely timed post. Last night I had another long adventure dream and then i was back at the beginning of it and knew i was dreaming, and so repeated the adventure with the people i was with, guiding them because i knew it was a dream. It was so cool and unlike past rare lucid dreams i was never even close to waking up. It lasted a long time. I’ve been doing exercises during the day time to help inspire lucid dreaming and it seems to be paying off (whenever I see a red balloon during the day I tell myself i’m dreaming [got the idea from something i read], and also telling myself i’m dreaming just anytime during the day.

This is also at least the third recent dream I've had where the dream repeats itself. the last one before this i had an adventure and then explained it completely to someone in the dream, but it wasn't lucid. i never used to have repeating dreams. What do you think it means?
