Any advice to keep pipes under a sink next to an outdoor wall from freezing when it hits zero on Monday? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72887172 A strip of insulation and duct tape, unless you have a blanket heater or heat trace to wrap it up with. Leave the cabinets open so the house heat will enter it easier as well. on the outside of the house tape a bucket or something over it and stuff with insulation or blanket. leave the faucet open so the water will drip also. User ID: 76668580 Norway 02/12/2021 08:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Visibility is down to almost zero as the wind and the snow make for some nifty snownadoes in the forest. There are even snow dunes growing in lovely waves reminding me of a windy holiday I had two decades ago in sandy Denmark. Utter insanity, this has soon been going on for twenty four hours and I'm running out of words to describe it. But heard there was a few wrecks on I-75 Our roads are mostly clear here now in WKY. Had power go in and out here as well. Biggest hit was cell and internet services so far. Many trees down. Numerous wrecks in the area but nothing like in TX. This next wave is already being set up as a major impact for the area. There are 2 more waves coming in starting Sunday and again on Thursday. It'll push services here to the breaking point if it's as bad as predicted. They don't handle snow well here. Especially when it's in feet instead of inches. So, again....we wait. Your area is also in the target zone btw. |

Whole Foods had been cleaned out of a lot of fruit and vegetables. I asked the cashier how his night was going and he said they did more business in one day (today) than the whole week before Thanksgiving. Also, their truck didn’t even come in. IDGAF |

They presented data from two sources ; the national weather service and the the so called "european model". Looking over this precipitation forecast and taking into consideration 1 inch of rain equals 10-15 inches of snow at 15 degrees, based on my own experience i'd say they are right IF it does get as cold as expected. [link to weather.rap.ucar.edu] DFW is an ice rink this morning. Accidents everywhere. And our updated forecast is indeed for 3 to 6 inches of snow Sunday into Monday. Glad we are missing out on all the ice here in Wichita. Just snow so far. Downgraded Friday-Saturday to trace to an 1" and now have 7-10" for Sunday-Monday and another 1-3" for Tuesday-Wednesday. The cold is awful. Still forecasting -32 wind chill for Monday morning. It is currently 33*F in the house. I am going to go venture into town for a while to do some shopping. I do not give a crap about possibly getting into a wreck right now. I would like to experience some heat for a while and to get out of this ice cold fricken house too. Yikes! Hope you get some improvement soon indoors! I Want To Believe |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72887172 Here in Wichita, we are keeping the cabinet doors open and dripping the water. Been doing that now going on a week, with another week to go. My kitchen sink is on an outdoor wall and it's working so far. We haven't been above freezing since last Saturday and we currently have a -15 wind chill with an actual temperature of 4. My fleece blanket helps to keep me warm-ish during the day. My sheet, blanket, and comforter setup for my bed definitely keeps me warm enough at night.
