Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76695796 When a pipe goes, just run over and turn off the water. Mop up, put up desiccants in the area and setup fans. If you have carpeting, pull it up. If tile or wood flooring then just keep mopping with dry towels until dry. Keep desiccants up along with fans for two days, especially nearby walls that were wet. Situation resolved. You might have to rip carpeting out and put in new if you end up with mold. Fans? They have no electricity, but you meant well. These renters know they will be reimbursed. I don't think they're worried right now. The videos will be needed for insurance purposes. Last Edited by nutmeg on 02/17/2021 06:40 PM |

The mexican maintenance in Plano and The Colony are incompetent and don't ever fix anything, leading to more serious problems down the line. Diet is also important in cold weather. You need good supplement of fat and iron. So meat, salt over the snowflake bullshit healthy green dishes. Don't be fooled by spicy sensation. It is not the flavor for cold weather. It would quicken your digestion process, losing yourself of water, body temperature. Don't overeat. So don't eat too fast. Chew your food well. It might have been more complicated in an apartment building/complex than turning the water off in one's house. when there is a busted pipe, you RUN to the main water shut off and turn off ALL the water to everything, DERP In recent years cities in Texas have changed out their water meters/water mains with wireless units that transmit your water usage. When these mains where changed out so were the utility boxes, the new boxes require a key to access the valve. Quoting: PREZ-ELECT wisconsin . ... no ... we aren't all as smart as you or live in a separate house ... . Then person responsible for the apartment building or Hotel should have enough sense to shut the damn water off. My thought exactly! I live in the north east of Canada, I understand that infrastructure is not the same. But I have to admit I'm surprised to see these pipe burst everywhere, specially in those hotels... Ever in your life buy seeds or a plant that goes outdoors? Notice that little thing on the package or tag that looks like a map with climate zones??? Do you Yankee people have any idea what so ever what some of these climate zones are like below your latitude. Do you honestly think construction could pass code and we do have codes, if it was built wildly out of code for the zone? This is now day 3-4 for some of these people in a deep freeze in an area totally not prepared or conditioned for this kind of weather. How hard is this for people to understand? Thread after thread after thread full of replies - do you live in a CAT 5 rated Hurricane structure, or let me go more light on you do you live in a CAT 3 rated domicile? Why not??? Maybe because you live where they never have CAT 3s - see where I am going with this??? Don't need to be so angry, just saying people had time to prepare. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80061927 United States 02/17/2021 08:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If your heat goes out and it's going to much below freezing, close the main water valve (usually located near the road) by turning it until the tab on the valve is at right angles to the pipe going into it. Open all of the faucets to allow the water trapped in the pipes to escape as the pipes freeze and drain the hot water heater after you turn it off. It's better to go without water a few days than to spend thousands or even tens of thousands in repairs if your pipes bust, and they will if they freeze solid where no water can flow.. If you DO have your water on and it stops flowing, turn the main off and open the faucets anyway, they wont flood your house when they thaw that way, and the water damages from burst pipes are much worst than the cost of the pipes themselves. |

That is my arm now; broken for 7 months User ID: 73297897 United States 02/17/2021 08:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Have you ever lived in an apartment building? If so, did you know how to turn the water off in the upstairs apartment? Many of these videos show water coming from upstairs apartments, but you're blaming it on democrats? OMG How funny. I'll modify that for humour. When I live in the Officers housing at Westover AFB, Mass, our neighbor was [and I am being extremely kind and delicate here] the kind of effing biotch you would do anything to screw with. The HVAC and water heater were in my basement and serviced both sides of the duplex. I learned to shut them off after Friday evening when no one was available to 'fix the problem' until Monday and always had them working between midnight Sunday night and morning Monday. I told the base maintenance staff the woman was a drunk prone to wild imagination when they knocked on my door and could never find a problem. I had fun with the water and heat for months. TXP NLI User ID: 29842978 United States 02/17/2021 08:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am calling it: The Texas power outage was a deep state false flagged HOAX Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75843933 There was no need for ANY power outage at all. There's a big report on this down the page a ways, I'll hit a few bullet points: 1. It is now proven that the deep state did it on purpose, because ZERO (0) AND I MEAN ZERO wind generators shut down, and they were the excuse the deep state used to explain why the power went out. They hatched a lie that "freezing rain built up on the blades, thus forcing shut down" and then simply switched off the entire 30 gigawatts the wind turbines could produce under ideal conditions, via the shutdown of coal, nuclear, and natural gas. PROBLEM: Not only were ZERO wind turbines actually shut down, but they over produced - they produced far more power than is anticipated at this time of the year. 2. They hatched a lie that natural gas powered electric could not make up for the wind turbines that shut down "because the filters in the natural gas systems froze". PROBLEM: As it turns out, there were ZERO (0) incidents of gas outages due to frozen filters, and the real problem was that homes were using more gas than usual, which competed with the gas the power generating facilities used. That was not enough to cause a problem. 3. THE REAL PROBLEM: Coal and nuclear were switched off. There was no reason for this. There were no coal shortages and absolutely no reason to switch off the nuclear reactors, other than to cause a crisis. In the end, here is what actually happened: Excess wind power made up for the competition for natural gas, and kept what little of Texas was powered running, while coal and nuclear were switched off. The scamming communists then hatched the story about frozen wind turbines and never expected anyone to call them on their lie. THIS IS WHAT VOTE FRAUD LOOKS LIKE. WELCOME TO AGGRESSIVE COMMUNIST MANIPULATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE, BACKED UP BY MSM LIES. And if "they" want to snope that, I'd like to see Snopes debunk what ARS technica said, though what ARS said was said sideways, at least if you read the entire report and summed it up, the truth could be gleaned from it. FACT: BIDEN AND THE COMMUNISTS JUST WAGED WAR ON TEXAS, probably because Texas is being a bit too rebellious for them. And now Texans are going to have to bear the brunt of receiving power for up to $12,300 per megawatt hour wholesale, when it is supposed to cost right around $17 per megawatt hour wholesale. On top of the frozen water pipes and deaths, the deep state just financially devastated Texas. And Joe Tex WILL be forced to pay. They are not going to back off on using the crisis to commit financial crimes against the people of Texas, they absolutely WILL force people who got ambushed by 1000X (100,000%) rate increases to pay. It's their money anyway, RIGHT? They can steal whatever they want because nobody shoots their *sses. Here is how they got away with raping the public for so much money: Various providers within the Texas power system were operating on trust and simply set their rate acceptance to "auto". So someone who had infiltrated the system (SHIN BET) was waiting to pounce on this disaster because they knew it was coming. For about a day they increased it 1,000 times normal (with devastating prices not quite as high for a longer period), and that just went through the system and got charged to customers. Just wait for the bills to arrive! It will be horrific beyond belief. Noticed how majority of these videos are from Liberal areas. Indeed. . |
