Its just a matter of maintaining sterilization. the masks we use cant really be used with a surgical mask, we have been using covers used for headphones (think MRI headphones, that need to be used for patients, and covered with a sterile cover on each ear) On the ones that dont have side filters, they are actually better...they only need one cover, vs the side filters that require 2.

Im not entirely certain N100 masks are the better option...alot of people constantly touch the mask, etc..many dont clean them with sani-wipes in between patients, people just think they are superman wearing them.

In my perfect scenario, I have the cluster filter, swim googles, and some makeshift(havent seen any commercially avail) ear covers that fit on the headstraps. Crazy i know...but at the height of the last wave I was dealing with 20+ covid pts a day, and they were ALL positives..not counting all the random ER people that may/may not have had it.

that was the worst feeling..all the random ER patients, I've lost count how many people I've been in contact with, that later turned out to be positive. I ALWAYS wore my mask...many others didnt! In my Dept only me and 2 other people haven't got Covid yet. They just didnt want to take the time, and disregarded the danger...thought it wouldnt BE them, THEY were healthy...

Yes Covid patient floor has totally different rules for nurses due to close proximity settings. I did not want to go into details with our hospital rules, similar to all hospitals across the nation with Covid protective measures for everyone. Depending on proximity.

He was talking about walk-in to medical setting with a P-100 mask with valve filter. And I explained why all medical settings across the country require a surgical mask to cover the filter. Did he comply, of course. Did he understand WHY. NO. Did I offer the explanation. I tried.

Obviously our country has the AMPLE supply for the “approved surgical mask” and that is the LEAST Recommended when inside a medical setting.

Just saw your post about not smoking. No wonder you were in such a bad mood the last couple of days! I hope it gets easier for you.

My mother was a Southern Baptist.

When I was a teenager, she told me repeatedly, "If you don't smoke or drink until you are 21, I will buy you a Thunderbird".

Finally at age 20, I realized, "Mom DOESN'T HAVE ANY MONEY!"

So, no Thunderbird. I finally started drinking alcohol at age 20.

Recently, I tried smoking a pipe to see if it would help me relax and sleep.

Found out that more than a couple of puffs gives me a stuffy nose and dry mouth, ergo, poor sleep.

It's funny that after age 63, drinking lost its appeal. I still have a couple of glasses of wine per day.

Apparently, I never actually became addicted to alcohol.

Entire 3rd grade teaching staff is in isolation this week. When teachers were ordered back last week to prepare for students returning this week, they were exposed by a teacher that was waiting on results.

Two elementary schools in SE Memphis have closed due to cases....after 4 days. The local school board is not reporting it and its super hush-hush.

I just sent a news tip to all 3 local news station. Fuck the governor.

I gave up 2 packs a day when my wife was double pregnant, toughest thing I have ever done. But after about a week it was no longer physical, but I had to chew gum when driving, as I always used to smoke and drive. I really had to watch my weight after giving up. When my father gave up smoking, he started eating cookies. That did not go well.
