They gave us a new stove/oven when we moved in.....totally wasted on me, but it's beautiful. I have only used the stove top so far. I turned on the oven a few nights ago to take the chill off.....I know you aren't supposed to do that with a gas oven, but I was going to be careful. Well, it caught on fire! Apparently there was still some factory plastic material in the oven door that melted, and smoke was everywhere. Luckily, it didn't set off the smoke alarms or sprinklers. So unless there is significant evidence to show a increased Hospitalization (and then)-> ICU rate for any new variant among the vaccinated group there is no long term worries. Main problem we seem to be seeing now is that there is significant spread without detectable infection among the vaccinated group, long term problem here is the still elusive long covid effects that may/may not hit this group. But you're point is very valid, Gas Generators are what we tend to use for peak power demand (Quick spin up and shut down for fossil fuel), so in a complete power failure it's not something to rely on unless you know a local source.
