I have my groceries delivered, but that is because I hate going grocery shopping and, in particular, standing in line for 45 minutes since they have 95% of the registers closed and everyone is doing self check-out with literal carts full of shit. |

I never did, myself. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77287674 For those who admit to doing it, do you feel foolish now? I am not judging, just curious. I haven't been inside a building other than my own houses and and workshops, since March 12, 2020. I use curbside pickup for groceries. I wear a mask while picking them up, and on the short drive to one of my homes, where I decontaminate them, in the garage. I decontaminate them using stabilized hydrogen peroxide. While doing that, I wear gloves, glasses, mask, and face shield. I wear gloves when I get gasoline or diesel. I wear a mask when I go pick up chicken feed, dog feed, etc., at my local farm supply. I call the order in, and pick it up outside. Since the corona virus appeared, I have lived at my farm, growing a garden, taking care of my chickens and gathering eggs, hunting, fishing in my pond, exploring my woodlots, building sheds for my tractors, servicing my trucks, etc. I will be caught up with everything in about a week, and then I am going to do some fun projects, like making some knives, longbows, arrows, percussion rifle and pistol, etc. Can't complain. I am enjoying this! I am not scared of the coronavirus. Just smart. I know a couple of nurses in a major hospital. My sister works at another one, in my area. You fools can believe what you want. I KNOW!!!!! Down to the most minute details! And most of us have been going about life as usual with just less crowds and have been fine. Its been a year so a lot of us should have been dead if this virus was as bad as they said it was going to be. And we’re not. Just no deaths from flu or colds. Almost all labeled as covid. Hospitals were always packed in cold and flu season. It’s just people didn’t really pay attention to it because the media didn’t hype it. |

Caught him crunching on something at the grocery store, a bag of noodles had broken open... free snacks, lol. He is healthy as a horse, no vaccines either Yeah ... when mine were little I had to, too, but now the big one is old enough and responsible enough to babysit the younger ones for an hour or two. World-changing milestone right there :) The kids had it the worst, IMO, because all their scheduled activities just stopped, and their routines were upended. They are all little troopers. It's a crazy world in which to be a kid. If we look at the past it has always been crazy. Maybe a little more here and there but we always live with uncertainty. The best thing we can do is learn to adapt. And children are good with that. i agree. And one of the ways that children adapt, is to "play". Unfortunately we forget how to play, be spontaneous, and thus be creative, as adults. Playing and laughter go hand in hand. Both are "healers". Exactly |

Yes, and few thoughts on this. I never thought much about it but after living a "cleaner lifestyle I can truly say this is the healthiest year of my life (knock on wood). No colds, eye infections, bladder infections, etc. The past few years I worked with students and was constantly sick. Also, I am noting behaviors of others in public and they are absolutely filthy. I saw people wiping their noses under their masks with their hand and then touching groceries, a guy putting his hand down the back of his pants then touching cans and stuff on shelves, people sneezing and instead of sneezing into crook of elbow sneezing right at items on a shelf, etc. It's a dirty world out there, and since I have kept things cleaner at home we are much healthier. I'm happy about this and planning to continue my efforts. ~~*NOT* a very nice kitty!~~ "Plan for the worst, hope for the best, and don't live in fear." |

March 14 last year I issued a dictum in my house (2 adults, 3 school age children): Quoting: SugarSand NO ONE IN THIS HOUSE IS ALLOWED TO GET SICK IF YOU GET SICK YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN It was obviously more of a joke, but it worked like a charm. We didn't do anything over the top, but we didn't all go riding the city bus to the hospital either or hang out at a crowded bar, either. We did whatever we could to continue like normal ... when things opened up, we went. Kids went to small parties and we'd just watch them a little while after. He and I didn't kiss each other if someone had a stuffy nose. We didn't drag the kids around shopping - why quadruple the chances? We managed a couple vacations and a couple weekends away. We went to the shore for a week, to Great Wolf lodge, to Maine... We completed a high school field hockey season, which was pretty remarkable, considering the quarantine rules. All the kids are much more diligent about washing their hands, sharing food and drinks, and about giving people space. There was no need to decontaminate mail and groceries, only to wash our hands. I have no choice but to bring my toddler to the store with me This kid eats bugs, dirt, and food off the floor. Caught him crunching on something at the grocery store, a bag of noodles had broken open... free snacks, lol. He is healthy as a horse, no vaccines either Kids should be exposed to everything. They should be digging in the dirt also. They get a good immune system then. Agreed. We never use antibacterial anything. I make my own colloidal silver and use it when we feel like we might be catching something. I also take some after a trip to the store, along with my kid. Just to be safe. We drink kombucha afterward to help balance the good bacteria. Gut health is the key |
