I live outside Vancouver, in a place called Abbotsford ( most of the people who live here are from India ) . I rent for $2600 , 3 bedroom , nice area . The house we rent is over a garage from the main house . The Main house was built by an Indian family. The house was built 3 yrs ago and was worth about 1 .5 mill now it’s worth 3.5 million .

Seriously, people that work full time can't afford to rent a place within commutable distance to their job, so now that everyone is priced out of the rental and real estate market, they are trying to buy RVs and mobile living spaces.

This guy breaks it down pretty well, coming soon to Seattle and other libtard cities south of the border. Thanks China!!

Really like this guy - thanks for the post!

Definitely how it is where I live. There is no *affordable* housing - and lots of apartment complexes have been built this year - but really expensive and not geared towards anyone who has a low or even middle income. The developers pay a fee to the state to opt out of having any of the units put into *affordable* category. Totally heartless.

Just saying, but Abbotsford has some of the best farmland in all of Canada, increasingly it is filling up with suburban sprawl and townhomes. It's happening as far out as Chilliwack. The Island and Okanagan too. The only places Canadians can afford to live in are resource based towns where there is no work.

Toronto, Vancouver Rank Top 5 in ‘Least Affordable’ for Homes Among Metropolitan Areas Globally

"...Hong Kong tops the chart as the least affordable housing market with a rating of 20.7. Vancouver was second with a score of 13.0, worsening by 1.1 compared to last year, according to a report (pdf).

Sydney takes the third position with a 11.8 rating, followed by Auckland at 10.0, and Toronto closely behind at 9.9. Similar to Vancouver, Toronto’s unaffordable rating increase by 1.3 compared to 2019.

Montreal (5.6) and Ottawa-Gatineau (5.2) join the category of “Severely Unaffordable” along with Vancouver and Toronto, but they are not among the top 20...."

It all started when Britain handed back over control of Hong Kong to China

1st WAVE was wealthy Hong Kong citizens fleeing Chinese takeover

2nd WAVE was wealthy Chinese citizens fleeing Communist rule

3rd WAVE is pre positioned Red Chinese Miltary soldiers on Canadian soil...and welcomed

not much physical land in Vancouver B.C. for the millions and millions still coming

Seattle is the NEW Vancouver...

Re: How bad is the housing crisis in Vancouver? Bidding wars for Campers
It isn't just a problem in Vancouver anymore. Lots of people in Greater Vancouver saw the writing on the wall 5 - 10 years ago and left for Vancouver Island and the Okanagan, which drove up prices outside the city, and in turn, as property there is re assessed upwards, so it goes with the taxes. Eventually people that have lived there all their lives find it harder to afford to live in their family home. The exodus also affects local culture and norms, as city people come in and take over.

Another big problem is places like Whistler. People up there have been sounding the alarm since before the Olympics. Most of the properties there are used as short term holiday rentals, usually owned by offshore investors, the stock of residential housing is very small in comparison. Even before the resort was bought by Vail, lifties were sleeping in motorhomes, even cars because they couldn't find an affordable place to live. It takes a lot of staff to run a resort like Whistler, and the staff accommodations have always been inadequate for the number of seasonal workers. There are cases of workers paying $500 for a bunk in a one bedroom apartment, with 3 or 4 room mates.

They closed the resort today because there is a big spike in local cases. They blame the young people, saying they are still partying and being promiscuous, but nobody talks about the obvious, you have workers crammed into small living spaces that go to work, usually in public facing jobs.

A million + for a empty shell of an old rancher with no interior walls, bathrooms, bedrooms or kitchen? Yup, in Toronto:

A million bucks used to get you your dream home not so many years ago, now it gets you a house that will need tens of thousands of dollars just to make it liveable. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you, if it hasn't already happened.

not just the real estate but the chinese also have been snapping up patents within the US legal system as well

the usual culprits will never call them out for it though, even though there are organizations in the west dedicated to promoting only asians.. you will never hear the "asian supremacy" rhetoric come out of the same lying whiners who sold everything off to then in the first place because it was "cheaper"

the funny thing is the chinese back on the mainland know exactly who is behind all the bs and they write about it on their chinese websites

in order to get the real history of what went down a hundred years ago you have to go read about it on a chinese website haha

because if a white guy ever attempt to tell the truth we know that results in an instant terrorist watch list/ban/"storm f4g" sop by the shills

Re: How bad is the housing crisis in Vancouver? Bidding wars for Campers
Just talked to a new neighbor in the building. The lady that lived in the unit before them was a senior, lived here for 30 years and her rent was $650/month for a one bedroom. She applied for subsidies as a senior on a fixed income but was denied because she has a teacher's pension. So seeing as she can't afford the rent and bills and still eat and take her medications, she was forced to move into a care home which they were willing to subsidize for her. Really sad. So I asked the new tenants about their rent and they tell me they were lucky, rent is only $1200/month.

Guess who owns the building now? That's right, a Chinese investor. Used to be that units in this building included a parking spot, locker and cable tv. Now you have to pay an additional $60 for parking, $30 for a locker monthly, so many people don't. There were so many empty parking spots that the property manager started renting parking spots for $150/month to people that don't live in the building, which means there are non residents with keys to the building. This isn't even a "desirable" neighborhood.
