Sage.

A few times I worked music festivals sometimes they would walk around the grounds with sage hours before the show. It smells great and I felt peaceful.

What benefits is burning sage? Spirituality wise ? Or how about physiologically even. Maybe calms you down ? Protects against false spirits?

Would it be allowed for a Christian to burn sage ? Could it be an idol ?

I feel like it would be fine to do because I used to burn candles and never felt guilty so why not sage lol. It just has this aura around it thats it’s more new age (not saying anything against that I have many new age friends) but I am just asking

I see no issue with a Christian burning sage, or other incense. The priests do :)
Sage is typically for cleansing, cleaning, banishing, btfo some evils, etc.

GW might have some more info/experience to share on this.

There's a lot that we could ponder regarding the X rune outside of the regular meanings when you consider what it represents. Things such as X marking the spot, signing/making our mark on a contract, etc.

There are particular workings where powering or reinforcing is said to rely on gifting to others, be they small or large, for good or otherwise. The shape itself seems to relate directly to exchange and dissolution of barriers as the two lines intersect and are even.
Perhaps another link is with "X"mas or Giftmas, entering/re-entering the universal consciousness? :P
We do indeed on a yearly basis exchange gifts with each other, often dissolving barriers and the exchange itself becomes the catalyst to re-engage or fix problems with others.

Some thoughts. Please don't get all Christ-masy rage on me, posting these cards is intended to be a gift and to inspire discussion (dissolve barriers? :D). It's just an observation that has a syncy type relationship and I felt was worth sharing. :)

Where did you learn that?

Sage is energetic "bleach". It removes both positive and negative energy. It clears all. Thats why you need to energetically fill a space after smudging or clearing.

I really don't see an issue with Christians using sage. The use of incense and smoke to ritually cleanse a space or to sanctify an area predates Christianity.

You arent worshipping anything so I don't see how there would be an issue

See and I didnt know that Tyr came before Odin. That is new to me. And I really liked your comparison of Odin to Jesus In one of your previous posts. That's an interesting connection.

With such a large amount of information spread across space and time through so many cultural moves, migrations, mergers, splits and so forth; the cross reference and research in to corresponding deities is very important in finding the truth of things. It should always be more important in finding the similarities between peoples, rather than the differences.

Y'know, otherwise we'll spend another 1,000 years fighting amongst sects of the same core religion... *ahem*

Something very important to consider is that all the stories we have via Snorri were approved by the church. The originals even have a prayer in the front, iirc.

I'm of the opinion that Snorri was able to 'hide' some truth in them through use of metaphor and allegory that were overlooked by the church.

The comparison to Jesus with Odin is an interesting one, there are indeed artworks by nordic artists (at least one), depicting Jesus with a bird on his shoulder. Being a wandering wise man, his sayings, his sacrifice, pierced in the side by a spear, his return after, gift of knowledge to man, the Othela rune (often related to Odin, but is in fact inherited power, etc.) closely resembles the Jesus fish, which btw is a vesica piscis with the tail, turned on it's side. Lots more to say on that but it veers away from the topic.

Things get very interesting though, when we relate Tyr's hand to Jesus. Tyr's right hand, who sits at the right of God? Do you know why Fenrir was bound in the first place? Other Gods feared his potential, due to his parentage. Literally the sins of his Father.
You could, as I have related before, say that Tyr sent his Right to humanity(metaphorically; Fenrir and his great potential), where it was sacrificed. Whilst others sneakily bound humanity in fear of its fast growth, with things that don't exist. Illusion and deception.
I've explained that better elsewhere, but I think that's enough to get the idea across.
