This fire swept through huge livestock grazing area's thousands of cattle literally burnt up. A man was trying to kill the cows that were on fire he ran out of bullets. Millions of deer elk birds squirrels raccoons etc all burnt to death. Saddest fire event I have seen in a long time. the fire last year which burnt up I 5 was horrific but it did not kill like this Bootleg fire has done.

The area where it started is land which has been sold to lets say undesirables to a degree. Many are pot growers, druggies.. there has been a forest fire started every week since the end of April out in this country due to carelessness. This one I will guaraned damn teeeee you was started by one of these low life dirt bags.

Not to say there aren't alot of good people who live out there what I am saying there are a GREAT many who aren't.

Ah no!... yeah, I was thinking about what would have happened to the livestock, if they'd managed to save most of them...

That is so sad to hear that a majority of them never survived...

I have a couple of cousins that live in Oregon but they're in a different area apparently to where this all happened and weren't affected as much but yeah, they do report on a lot of the damage done and lots of smoke....

I am sickened to hear that the majority, if not all, of the livestock didn't make it...

That is so sad and cruel...

I believe it to be in Southern Oregon... Fremont-Winema National Forest, 11 miles NE of the town of Sprague River...

It is sickening if this was caused by cruel people, as another poster stated...

Cow Town is 10C cooler this morning due to the smoke. Sometimes letting it burn is the correct solution and spend lots of money in the recovery phase and make it a forest that has a useful product.

The drought is bad. I've been in norcal and soOR for a few months. I have reason to be in that area right now but it was just too dry. Everyone was on edge for fires while it was still snowing in Mt. Shasta. I left the entire interior and am on the oregon coast atm. The fire season has barely began, and it is going to get worse. Everything is soooo dry. I've bikepacked from San Diego up coast to sf, then out to Sierra Nevada, then up the siskyous/Klamath, and all around the southern half of western oregon in the last few months. It wasn't until I got to oregon coast that I thought this area might not burn this summer. The rest of it is a tinder box. Things could get way worse in next few months. If I remember correctly, in area of bootleg fire, official fire season doesn't start until August. I'm already planning my escape to coastal Washington or eastern half of US if it gets too bad.

I've been out West three times since November 2020, just got back from 5 days in Denver in intense heat. You can't breathe out there. I have no idea how people live like that in summer with the high altitude, the pollution, then the heat and smoke from fires. Ironically summer is far busier than winter out west as well, so the traffic is worse than usual all up and down the coast. I was suffocating. I cancelled plans to stay a month and headed back southeast. I didn't breathe again till I got past the Kansas plains, they are pretty bad as well. It was litterally hell on earth compared to the South in summer. I won't attempt any trip West again until winter months.

What Oregon inbreeds, many Oregon's have relocated from other states. I don't know anybody in Oregon that uses coal to power their home or business. There's only three small operating coal mines in the hole state of Oregon, and it's a large state. By the way Trump is no longer President, welcome to Biden's America.
