Careful about buying lots of animals to raise. The cost of feeding them is going to skyrocket. Fertilizer and diesel costs are directly connected to feed costs.

It's so much nicer to hear constructive suggestions instead of all of the bitching and whining on this site

I'm just eating a lot more rice and pasta. Grilled cheese sandwiches are cheap and easy. Lots of ramen. I'll survive. We may not be able to eat what we used to or what we want, but we're not going to starve like people in other countries

And as for "Very Outdated Pricing" I posted this around a year ago, so the reason for the bump was to show everyone how fast it did jump, however, a bushel of wheat and other grains still goes a long way.

Typically these prices have been steady for decades, so thank the Biden group and TPTB for the instant inflationary prices, toxic financial crisis, and inability to manage almost everything they touch properly.

On a positive note Hunter Biden: "Hunter Biden to a hooker in 2019: “No no no, because my dad [inaudible] running for president. He is, he is, he is. I talk about it all the time. If they do, he also knows I make like a gazillion dollars.”

People like variety for sure, the same old gets old fast, but if we're in survival mode then it'll do, however, it should have never gotten this bad this fast. Maybe that's what it will take to wake the sleepy masses, but personally, I wouldn't want the masses to starve.

The only way people will starve in the USA is if we turn on each other, we need to stick together instead of allowing these pricks in DC to divide us.

United we stand, divided we fall. Our forefathers lived this BS we're living in today and worse.

Grocery stores are great if everything goes right, but when things get bad, and shelves are empty, then what?

Stay calm, take a deep breath Nothing to fear if we're prepared properly, it'll take some doing, and brainwork as well. Time for everyone to stick together now.

About Me: Rural Michigan farmer, co-op seller, and all-around survivor here.

It's time people understand and know the truth, most of what they eat is bought for pennies, processed, and sold for many times more than the pennies use to buy them. Capitalism is at its finest when it works, but when it doesn't how can we all survive during massive inflation or a collapse of the financial system.

Immediately start developing relationships with rural farmers, farm co-ops, and similar. Why? Because water and food are the most important thing. A millionaire will trade all his gold, just for a meal if his family is hungry enough when things get desperate.

Make sure to have a root-cellar, mason jars, and learn how to can everything. Buy a book on it, if you don't know-how.

1) Potatoes/similar tubers a 100-pound bag can be bought, in the rural area farm for about $5 to $10, sometimes if farmers have excess even cheaper.

2) Carrots same as above, in fact, during deer hunting season there are massive bags at gas stations for about $5.

3) Buy in bulk, sacs of dried grains 50 to 100lbs less than $8 in season, and right after harvest.

4) Co-op cattle, and agree to prices and processing costs early on, then get a deep freezer, or learn to can meat.

5) Any veggies in season can be bought for a massive discount if people take the time to travel to rural areas and talk with the farmers directly. Maybe even bring them a gift, ask if they need help, sometimes they'll even trade crops for temp-work.

6) Grain processing mills. Know where all of them are within a 200-mile radius of your city because 50-100lb sacks are cheap in season.

7) Absolutely learn to grow greens yourself, it can be done in the city easily all year round with a small greenhouse, even in Michigan.

8) Have Chickens as many as people can handle they provide multiple souces of food. Eggs, meat, and keep bugs to a mimimum around the house.

Everything I've posted above can feed a family of 5-6 for Less than $200 a month or less if done properly. Granted all the bling processed foods aren't included but everyone will eat well and survive an epic downturn.

Example Sources in the Detroit/Michigan area.

Michigan/Detroit has a true farmers market that has been around since the 1800s, if people talk with the farmers that sell there, many times they can get amazing deals at the end of the days selling when the farmers don't want to take their product back with them.

I've gotten cases of Bell peppers in assorted colors for $3. Flats of strawberry for $2-3, seedlings in trays and pots for $3 a flat.

Great thread. I support local growers
Am grateful for their hard work

The collapse is planned
Article by Dr Day
He indicated that there is much more cooperation between East and West than most people realize. He was free to speak at this time because " ... everything is in place and nobody can stop us now."

When the new system takes over, people will be expected to sign allegiance to it, indicating that they don't have any reservations to the old system.

"There just won't be any room for people who won't go along. We can't have such people cluttering up the place so such people would be taken to special places and disposed of humanely."

The transcript of Dunegan's recollections has been posted here and should be read in full. However, I'll provide a summary here.

ORWELLIAN POLICE STATE

They do want to implant a chip in us so they can find and identify us, as well as monitor and control our purchases.

They are weaning us off national allegiance and will resort to terrorism to win our assent to their global police state. They may use "one or two nuclear bombs to convince people we mean business," Day said.

the Rockefeller Institute but is kept secret for purposes of depopulation. He said there will be an increase in infectious man-made diseases.

Dr. Day, who worked in weather modification during the war, said weather can be used to wage war or create drought and famine. The food supply will be monitored so no one can get enough food to "support a fugitive from the New System." Growing your own food will be outlawed under the pretext being unsafe.

"Each part of the world will have a specialty and thus become inter-dependent, he said. The US will remain a center for agriculture, high tech, communications, and education but heavy industry would be "transported out."

Bible has been altered :

that "A New World System" would permanently transform the world, Dr. Day, who died in 1989, wanted to prepare the 80 or so physicians present. He said people are controlled by means of the information they are given. Often contradictory information works (i.e. discrimination is bad unless it is against whites.) Information will be selective. Not everyone will be allowed to own books.

"Certain books will disappear from libraries."

Literary classics and the Bible will be subtly altered.

People will spend longer in school but not learn anything. There will be restrictions on travel and private home ownership will gradually disappear. Homes will become so expensive that people will have to share small apartments with non-family members.

newbie questions:

does a chicken coop require a fan for ventilation in addition to its doors/windows? heat?

Why do ppl raise rabbits with chickens?

can you freeze or otherwise store excess eggs?
how long are fresh eggs good for? without refrigeration? stored?

do goats (for milking) need indoor refuge/heat? a sister/friend? does goat milk require additional treatment before consuming? do they require daily milking?

THANK YOU

The above is true. We have a couple of local markets and they’re quite high. I mind now, but I might not mind if it’s the only source of food.

But they’d do themselves and us a greater service if they’d lower to below the retail. Not saying give it away, but we know it’s come right out of their ground 50 yards away so there are no middle men to pay...c’mon man! Help your local community out! These are your neighbors for the most part.

Great thread. I would also recommend learning to hunt and fish. I have a hunting bow. I also have a .22 caliber break barrel air rifle suitable for taking down small game (I don't have a 'real' gun yet cause I need to get a damn license. also, the stores here are ravaged, there's like no guns in stock). But that rifle rocks, I've seen videos of people hunting wild turkeys with it. If you can hunt, you can get food. The lakes around here are filled with ducks. I can go fishing off the shore, for shore perch. Food is everywhere. There's some nice big fast doves that land in my backyard all the time if I sprinkle out some bird seed, and I'm like, hmmmmm, dinner. But I don't need to do that yet, leave the poor doves alone lol :-)

Great Information - Thank You.

As someone who went rural 3 years ago I have been on that journey for a while now.

This year I have grown a lot of food and learnt how to preserve and make chutney.

Not only it is cheap it is also healthy but once you taste the organic food you can never go back to eating the bland stuff in the supermarkets!

Even people in suburbs and cities can keep chickens in the right conditions

Have to be able to feed them and they need some green space, away from dogs and foxes

Eggs are worth that investment as a basic food source, and they can be traded for other goods or just good will with neighbors

Unless on a large lot, you sacrifice some yard space, have to deal with the droppings and need to do the upkeep on the coop and fencing, buy the feed, etc

It is worth it however, particularly as a transitioning experience from urban/city life

Growing a veggie garden is great and rewarding

Learning how to do both chickens and gardening for the first time, keeping them separate in the same space, is a fun challenge ;-)

Those who have a few years head start and saw these times coming will be at a distinct advantage

But these trends will become more generalized

Re: UPDATED: How To Survive the Coming Food Shortage Problem - Michigan Farmer Here - Must Have Information for Empowerment
Can we talk about dehydrating?

I bought one of those new-fangled foodi thingys and it dehydrates in addition to other options.

Does RE-hydrating the food require a lot of water? Water is something not too easily obtainable in our situation. Looking to purchase a Berkey soon.

We are not in an ideal situation for any of the above, live in an old farts park where we don’t own any of the land,’. so planting food is nigh onto impossible. Even if I put plants in buckets in the window sill, I can’t grow a damn thing!!! That’s why I’m stocking up...and have lots of farmers/ranchers for friends who will help us out with inexpensive left-overs (I hope).

And don’t forget microgreens. 4x the nutrition of vegetables, can grow in just a few days, with minimal equipment/lighting. Sprouted lentils and chickpeas grow quickly too.

Re: UPDATED: How To Survive the Coming Food Shortage Problem - Michigan Farmer Here - Must Have Information for Empowerment
There is no "food shortage" coming, perhaps if you were an actual farmer and not some yokel you would be well familiar with this fact.

[link to www.ers.usda.gov (secure)]

If you were an actual farmer you would understand the US Farmers assoc. and USDA allocate together depending on crop yields allocation of food grain and feed grain depending on the years supply, you would also understand the USDA has literally 2 years worth of supply in seed and grain at any point in the year for any such emergency. And exports are lowered or raised accordingly.

You sir, are utter bullshit. Nothing is projected.

You are incorrect.

4 horseman are riding now.

1st was covid19 the bow and toxin injection 1/3 will die off from that.

2nd is the war horse riding now with Russia.

3rd is famine and its coming faster than most know. one day food will just vanish from the shelves. you'll not believe nothing to be found. go in back of store to be happy you found dog food.

4th is death shouldn't have to explain this one.

prepare now or cry later. have a great day in the apocalypse.
