those pictures could be easily faked...grocery stores are all well stocked where i live and haven't heard from anyone i know (various usa locations) and trust about shortages either

The store manager looked for something to fill the empty space where much needed products are supposed to be to give the impression there is still something there. it sort of works a little in that the brain seeking normalcy tries even unconsciously to use the various colors to fill in the gaps and hide the stark reality. Does not work on everyone, but it may keep some customers coming back in.

Attack of the killer lawn chairs

Yup it's called stretching. They walk through hourly to manage gaps and stretch product to look normal. Most shelves are only two cans deep.
