Quoting: themessengernevermatters ^^^^^ yep, the lack of disposable incomes will smack every industry! BS. People have stopped buying appliances? Incorrect No, there are waiting lists several months long for certain appliances. Have you even been to the stores? Appliances all over, we received our washer and dryer no problem. Expensive ones, not available. Good. Bought a pair for a few hundred less. Generac Generator, waited 4 months, Boom sitting outside of my house. WTF. companies are being smarter and more cautious cranking out products. Not hard to figure out. China being a bitch, No fucking problem, This is America and we can take care of ourselves. Not entirely true, many are made by the same manufacturer for different brands.Sears never made much of anything. They just had their label put on it and made/built to their specs, designs and color schemes.I just fixed my dryer over the winter, you can buy a whole kit of thermal fuses and other sensors that are cheap and easy enough to replace. It fixes the issues and the dryer is good as new. This kit i ordered covered at least 5or6 brands of dryers. This goes for lots of things. Primary is all these things need CHIPS (which can't be sourced). While a smart Nation would ask people to NOW throw out ANYTHING with a chip, gold on cutout boards, & metals that can be recycled.I; & create centers for drop offs & pick ups. USA could function but for lack of chips "a chip a chip, my kingdom for a chip", yet we are literally throwing out & causing trash/disposal issues of MANY things USA could salvage & reuse. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79829387 Yeah America cannot take care of itself. Going to be a big problem. All the B@@mers are retired. I went to the lowes not long ago to see about potentially replacing a dishwasher. You are right, GE is the very bottom of the barrel. BUT, they are all bottom of the barrel. Even the once mighty maytag and whirpool are now built so cheaply it is disturbing. Even opening the door on them they are so weak they twist under normal opening and closing. A dishwasher built 20 years ago feels like a tank by comparison. The internal parts are flimsy as hell on all of the new ones. Not to mention that their lifespan is a small fraction of what a 20 year old machine is. Constant breakdowns. So as GE goes the rest quickly follow -especially at their higher price points for being marginally better junk. A whirlpool is maybe a 10%-15% better product than a GE but usually at around twice the cost. If anything the higher end manufacturers will suffer. A new dishwasher built to the standards of a typical year 2000 dishwasher would be a $1500 item. So they just reduce the quality to build them cheaper. |
