TWO MONTHS AGO WE REQUESTED SERVICE FROM GE ON THEIR APPLIANCES, WAS TOLD THAT NO ONE IS AROUND TO DO THIS.

YET, IN THE MIDST OF THE PANDEMIC LAST YEAR, HAD OUR PICK OF GE REPAIR PEOPLE.

YOU COULD BE RIGHT.

GE WAS BOUGHT OUT BY HAIER, THEN THEIR LEX FACTORY BURNED.

WE DON'T WANT TO BUY NEW (CAN SEE ALL THE CUT-CORNERS, CRAP BUILDS ON THEIR NEW APPLIANCES) SO WILL PAY TO REPAIR OLD ONES, WHICH ARE WORKHORSES AND LAST FOREVER.


BUT THEIR REFUSAL TO SERVICE IS PART OF THEIR FORCING LOYAL CUSOMTERS TO BUY NEW.

NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

All of my appliances came from Sears and I can still get parts to repair them. I repaired my 28 year old Kenmore refrigerator last year. 28 years! I replaced the cold control and it's holding 37 degrees now. Before that it was the defrost timer. 2nd time I have changed that. I got my money's worth!

That's because GE sold off the home appliances division in 2016 to Haier of China.

The only thing that was good about the sale was that GE required that the US manufacturing plants remain open for at least a decade to get the deal done. My guess is if GE hadn't sold the Appliance division off it would have been closed down back in 2016.

I've faced more hardship than most people. But I'm a fighter, I kept on going. I believe in the American dream and I'm willing to work for it. I'm not obese. I care about my body. I am a woman who wears a size 2. I weigh 115 lbs. My kids are hardworking American's as well who also look after their physical health.

What trips me out is that folks think it’s about purchases. It’s not.

It is lack of what is needed to make the damn things plus inflation.

I think you are right. There are a lot of supply issues due to products missing parts and pieces they can't get in. I hope we can start manufacturing everything we need in our own country again.

Worked in appliance repair for over 40 years. The maytag dependable care washers, the whirlpool belt driven washers and the speed queen washers of the mid 80's to the mid 90's were the best washers ever built. Nothing else can hold a candle to these washer/dryer pairs. What we have now is junk, which lasts only 3 to 7 years if your lucky....

This. PCs were built like tanks from this era too. Albeit with proprietary parts. If you have a PC from this era it will still turn on. You can't even find or build a good PC anymore. All motherboards now use cheap capacitors and you're lucky to get 5 years of life out of.

Hopefully it's GE. Since Haier bought them out I knew they were destined to fail. Plus, I hate working on GE appliances.

I highly doubt it's LG. LG and Samsung aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
