oh bs...

money is fake

all money is fake.

they can throw 10000s of trillions of fake dollars at any institution to keep it afloat.

stock, metals, consumer markets are all 100 percent rigged.

the only way there will be a depression is if the baby rapists want it.

only way things change is if the sheep awaken, which wont happen.

Being down three. 5% is considered a crash. Lol
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81073493

Stocks are kinda funny.

Correct me if im wrong, but they are a pyramid scheme
whereby the value of a stock is essentially zero,,, unless
someone is willing to purchase the stock at a price.

So, -3.5% is a big deal if it scares off future buyers.
In that case -3.5 today can turn into -7 tomorrow, and so
on till the real value is "discovered" at more or less stable
price.

Here is the bottom based on my research. It will be a good chance to buy in. It is ugly though. Will take about 60-90 days to get there. This up and down draft momentum will be like riding the Roller Coaster From Hell.

Dow 28,414
S&P 500 3387
NASDAQ 10592
 Quoting: redhed6971

Great levels imo and I think you'll be fine buying in here.

However I see real support between 21k - 24k so I'm expecting the bottom to be there IF we break the 28k support.

In the end the Dow is going to 50k.

When gas actually goes down I'll get worried about a deflationary collapse.

So peak Oil was right just off by 3 decades. Ok maybe but if that's the case why kill fracking? The consequences of peak Oil are far more devastating than the consequences of the environmental impacts of fracking.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82048685

My husband is a geophysicist, he finds oil for a living. He says there is no such thing as "peak oil."
 Quoting: Alpacalips

There IS a lot of oil in the ground. That's those "reserves" everyone brags about. The problem is FLOW RATES and DEPLETION CURVES. Once a well slows to a certain point, you start losing money. Not only that, but you have to pick up the well, move the buildings, electric, trucks, equipment, etc to the next well, and that costs a LOT of energy in and of itself. As companies have to do that more often, due to extracting the "low hanging fruit" and moving on to the tier 2 deposits, their bottom line gets eaten away by the cost of the transition to the new well head. There will be a lot of energy in the ground FOREVER. Most of it is far too expensive to extract and will stay right where it is. "Peak oil" is a concept that has been used in the industry since its inception. Calling the timing of global peak is a folly, but to say there's no such thing is to not understand the definition. Also, finding oil is not the same activity as getting it out of the ground and to market while still turning a profit and attracting investment in future production.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72946100

Pick up the well?

Move what building?

Uhh seems to me you really are just talking a good game but really ain't in the industry.

Re: Stock market collapsing

People will actually go outside again.

That's easy - they will.. then business will slow down. Then they'll pretend it is only 'temporary' and eventually they will close.

Basically the only ones to survive will be within hot trendy areas (gov/sick care/education) and/or those who the owner rolls up their sleeves and really works hard.

That means getting rid of all the leeches (e.g. the sis in law who 'manages the front of the house') and serving the community.

Even POOR countries have restaurants. But the profits are the slim line where the specialization savings are enough to make it not much more to eat out than to cook yourself.

The whole operating model of management heavy restaurants is going to collapse.

Good thing for those who work their butts off... there will be plenty of work for them (cook, server, washer, appliance repair, etc.).
Their standard of living will go down too... but at least they can eat.

Good luck 'gender studying' yourself to food.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21006153

I spent at least 10 years in the restaurant industry...this has been a tactical take down. Destruction of small businesses and especially those that allow the people to congregate and socialize.

Restaurants always ran on a thin margin razor. Most of those people, even the restaurant owners, aren't making much money. They do it because that's what they enjoy.

I hate to say it, but I don't think they're going to survive. TPTB don't want people congregating.

It'll be a while before you see gasoline go down again wartime economy is coming. None of us have ever lived through a wartime economy. Not to mention the supply shortages and biting sending all of our strategic reserves overseas is helping prop up th.at price. To prove my point look at the price of oil per barrel it's struggling to get above 110. When it was pushing 130 in 2008 with far less pressures on supply than there are today. So you're already seeing a price decline in gasoline when adjusted. Just not at the pumps.

No disagreement there really.

There is only so much waste to cut. Restaurants that pre-make a lot of items and warm them up risk either food wastage (bad) or spoilage (even worse).

No faster way to ruin repeat business than food poisoning.

Basically I can see it becoming much more common to have 'menu-out' or the board/waitress running you through 'what is left'.

People get honest and let their guard down while eating and drinking. There is a reason why such outings have a high potential for office drama.

People will accept a level of honesty and 'fringeness' over food. I think it may be some built-in - hey if I can share food with you I have to be able to trust you at least a little.

People organize way deeper and more quickly over food in person than they would over the web.

we don't even bother going there unless we need something right then.
