On the op... I work at a building construction machine company. We have been suffering huge issues with supply and quality recently. During one meeting we were told orders are good, also that the around 50% agency staff were being retained as they want to hit the ground running when things improve. However, that means they are having discussions about reducing the workforce!
Now their has been a sudden taking on of 50 new permanent staff while the shot is hitting the fan. I believe the company are about to reduce the build and ditch the agency staff (about 300) listening to those here when it happened before around 2008/9)

All the signs are pointing to a major depression and if no one is buying or building homes then no diggers\dozers etc needed.

You won’t have any assets you sold all your stocks and bonds. But as the price drops someone is buying them. Who is that. Not retail investors. Not your investment fund. They all went to cash. It’s blackrock, vanguard and all the other massive corps. You will never buy back in again.

You will be left holding worthless dollars. At some point you need to buy and hold and no matter what don’t sell. Invest in commodities. Even if the price goes down buy a little more every day. So you hold as much as possible. Yes it may fall another 50% but keep buying . Only ever sell as little as you need to eat if you can’t get food and that’s it.

As for losing job, my wife and I lost our jobs 6 months ago due to mandate. This is the least of our worries.
