And yet you say “people like you” makes no sense. I treated your state as the visitor I was, with respect. Spent hard earned money at your many businesses and cleaned up after myself. Even tipped housekeeping at our hotel. Tbh…you would be lucky to have me and my husband as a part of your beautiful state. We really are good decent people. Come to Oklahoma. We are a Red State. Housing is still affordable and so are food and gas prices. We would welcome more Conservatives... It’s filthy in OK just like Alabama. Boring, no good quality food unless you grow it yourself. No freedom of medication. And fatties everywhere on mobility scooters who drive challengers . Yeah I’ll pass on a low IQ state like that. Don’t you have anything better to do with your time than insult people on my thread. How about making one yourself. I don’t like to sensor/ban people but I also won’t allow you to continue badgering people who take time out of their busy lives to post here. Badger me all you like. But if you persist on badgering others on here. You will be banned. You have been warned. Take it as you will. Ok, "Indian" dude...let me splain something to you. The whites are on their way out. We are a minority and undergoing genocide by the people I can't mention here. Your new masters will be the Chinese. If I were you, I'd start learning Chinese and how to take a leather whip. |

Quoting: Aware & Watching The people there..meaning complete strangers at various businesses were ALWAYS genuine and warm toward us. We felt like family no matter where we went. The Walmart there had a sign that said “ mothers room” directing busy and nursing mothers to a room just for them. It did not say “birthing persons” room. We didn’t see even ONE graffiti sign or one single homeless person. The roads were all in great shape and well cared for..as did all the infrastructure. And we were the majority. Not the minority. What California refers to as “minorities?” We saw just a few at most. I had completely forgotten what that felt like. My husband was often referred to as “Sir” and most everyone we saw smiled at us and were polite with good manners. Even the younger adults! It was quite an experience. Oh! And the local news..had “top stories” of storms and noise ordinance Complaints on vehicles with loud exhausts, like motorcycles. No stories of murders, rapes, robberies etc. Gun stores advertising sales on ammo and Walmart had both ammo and shotguns for sale! And when I say ammo..I’m not talking about ammo locked behind a plexiglass cabinet in cases. I’m talking about boxes of open ammo sitting on easily accessible shelves. It was like going back in time about 50 years. Almost surreal. No exaggeration. Why are you thinking of moving out of California? Many reasons. Sadly..this state has become the exact opposite of my politics, ideals and values. I’ve tried to make my vote count, but I and people like me, strong conservative, are vastly outnumbered. CA is a sinking ship, spiritually, socially, economically etc. it’s insanity to remain here. BULLFUCKINGSHIT! Strong conservatives don't race mix like you you disgusting race mixing slut! You're either a straight out liberal or "moderate conservative" who's actually a libtard. Yes Whites have been too kind. The other groups won't be. |

I was 16 then Just to be clear..I wasn’t trying to be offensive to you when I described my visit to Utah and what I experienced. It’s just that CA is in a tail spin of reverse racism. I’m being persecuted and targeted for things my ancestors did before I was even born. Things I had nothing to do with and no say about. I don’t have a problem with other nationalities so long as they don’t have a problem with me. I’m a “live and let live” type of person. Hopefully in time..they will judge my actions and my character rather than my beliefs. a foolish thought. if you're not a Mormon, you're a second class citizen and will be treated that way, especially in a smaller town. you won't get employment, and you'll lose any legal conflicts. good luck. I didn’t get that impression during our visit to St. George, but will take it under advisement. Why don't go live on the Indian Reservation you Indian fucking race traitor. You obviously hate being white. So go live with the nonwhites. You were fortunate enough to be blessed with blonde hair and blue eyes and you fucking ruin it for all your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren etc by marrying a fucking indian. shoot it before it lays eggs!! |

I Tried to find so much as a cigarette butt on the street in Salt Lake, but nope...there was no garbage anywhere. As you said, no graffiti. No homeless. No weird vagrant types. I felt like I was in the 1970s of my youth. The politeness of people in public spaces was unreal. Quoting: BarbaricYawpSounder I do not know much about the Mormon faith but whatever it's about, there's one thing for sure: It creates a society of public respect, competence, and functionality. Wish more places were like that...kinda dreamy, actually. It really was like a surreal experience. Very much looking forward to moving there. Just looking at some houses and trying to tie up loose ends in California:) Don't you get it? Locals HATE people like you! Stay away! Move to Texas or something dammit! St. George is a capital of caliplants. Enjoy having your water shut off moran! Again..why so angry. You don’t even know me. And yet you say “people like you” makes no sense. I was out that way once and it was very nice. I would move there too if I could. I'm stuck in Georgia lol. I know what you mean about the racism towards Whites. Cali still calls non-Whites the minority, but I think Whites may be the minority out there now. Unfortunately, demographics are destiny and it appears Whites will be a minority all over. They don't get it, how it will be when that happens, but you have experienced a small taste, yes? I appreciate your "live and let live" attitude, however that probably won't be the case with the non-Whites when Whites are the minority. I'm sorry to say that Whites having that attitude contributed to where we are now. Anyway I am happy for you. Hope your move goes smooth and you love your new place I understand what you’re saying and where you’re coming from. Tbh though..it’s less of an attitude and more just how l prefer to live my life. You are correct. Few places in CA where Caucasian’s are the majority. This state is very much a melting pot. In a way..it’s a micro example of what this country represents. People from all walks of life and many different and diverse nationalities. For me though..it’s more about the content of one’s character than their race or nationality. There are both good and bad apples out there and it matters not what orchard they come from. Appreciate your well wishes on the move. I’ve a feeling we are going to need them. I have everything I could possibly need and I only opine on GLP for fun. You, on the other hand, suffer from realizing that you're not capable of surviving in a place like this, because frankly, you're just too stupid. You will not survive Agenda 30. |

Quoting: Weisshaupt You do understand this is largely because of the infuence of the the Mormons ( Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints) And Yes they are very friendly, but unless you are part of the church you may find yourself shut out of certain opportunities. The Church Members tend to be pretty good at defending the culture there, but that is because its largely the culture of the church... You mean things like, funeral ham, cottage cheese jello, secret under wear and trampoline parties? Yeah, but the underwear isn't exactly secret :) Its all pretty innocuous unless you are near one of the polygamist splinter groups. They do focus on individual agency, being prepared and family, and it does tend to show up in the kids being decent, honest people. A little naive perhaps. But as with everything, individual results can vary. I live in a pretty LDS saturated area (not Utah) and my kids only stay straight and narrow because they were surrounded by LDS kids. Non-Utah mormons tend to be a little more laid back and a little less holier than thou towards non-LDS... you can do way worse than being surrounded by LDS as clan... I'm in Southern Utah...non-mormon. I have found that it's hard to put the Mo's into much of a box as they differ, quite drastically in some cases, based on what region of Utah they are in. Small towns can be very indoctrinated and some steer toward a militant far right political slant. The bigger cities have been watered down with transplants. But I definitely agree about the Poligs and the bubble they maintain. And I have experienced some exclusion from certain types once they realize I'm not coming to join them...but it would be much worse in a smaller town without a college and the transplants that attracts. Uuuhhh-ohhhhhh!! Sounds they better get the water engineers from Mississippi down there quick!!!! They can fix it!!! |

My wife and I have raised our family here and are soon to be empty nesters. We've been married for over 30-years. We love our neighbors, (Mormons and non-Mormons alike) and have been very happy here. Silicon Slopes has definitely changed the real estate market, but things are stabilizing. Keep looking because it's likely to go up again with the new year. I had the opportunity to move to Texas for work last year, but ultimately took a different job just so we could stay. Some people talk about feeling like outsiders when they move to Utah because of the Mormon influence. There's a lot more 'live-and-let-live' than you might think. |

User ID: 77420325 United States 12/02/2022 04:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP I grew up in Northern Utah and moved to California in my 30's. I always felt like an outsider growing up even though my family was Mormon - I was never 'good enough'. And when I spent 2 years researching history of the church I was so pissed that I had been lied to all my life about it. I thought I was liberal - then I moved to California and found out what liberalism really means. That was a wake up call. I'd like to move back to Utah or maybe Idaho just for sanity and safety sake but my spouse won't hear of it so I'm stuck in California until my spouse wakes up. I visit Utah on a monthly basis and it is a lot different than when I grew up there - diluted due to the many people who are not mormon that have moved there for the very reasons you speak of - although many of them do bring their liberal ideas and politics with them. I don't feel quite as much an outsider as I did when I was young anymore. Maybe I just simply don't care about such things anymore. But be aware there is a culture shock of sorts moving to Utah from California if you never lived there before. And Southern Utah is very different than Northern Utah - much like SoCal is very different than Northern California. |

I almost grew up in Provo as an outsider. I foresaw my doom on a walk from Spanish Fork to Provo years later. I married into that world, offset by a generation of hippies. What a hike, what a roller coaster ride, a low flight over the huge circular copper mine, the effing outdoor theater presentation of the journey from Nauvoo to there. So many things I was shown FAR in advance that I would understand 40 years later. Oh Utah, land of Funny Rocks! Arrrr, arrrr arrrr. Cruising the blvd was great. Kids coming out to actually talk and hang out. The cops made a law that no u-turn could be done at the end so it changed a bit...then they started hassling kids parked at the Safeway then everywhere else. It wasn't a drunk party nor was it disorderly. No gang fighting even existed in those days. Van Nuys blvd in LA and Fremont in Las Vegas were the same. Fun people having real fun. Very rarely a fight. There are now some excellent restaurants in St. George and everything that you've said is from a twisted, angry viewpoint. Wherever you live now, you're still one seriously unhappy person. There's still time to change :) |
