I borrowed plenty from my parents while I was in the military. If my pops ever came to me, and that day will come, I'd clean out my bank accounts for him He taught me well not just in morals, discipline, honor, ect. But he taught me one thing that really stuck with me. When he gave me my first $5 in chore allowance he said "That what you hold in your hands will only be worth $1. Invest it wisely." I had one goal then, to save up for a Super Nintendo Was 9y/o at the time. I got that SNES and then the Nintendo 64 came out and the SNES was reduced to $50-75 that I paid $150 for. Gonna stop, this has nothing to do with the thread lol. Sorry. My posts that can be misconstrued as "extreme" and/or "radical" are satirical. #NoHymenNoDiamond #PoppedCherryDontMarry |

All of my grandparents had their parents with them when they were old. All my grandparent in-laws did the same. NONE of my parent's generation allowed their own parents to live with them. You should probably be living with your son anyway helping raise your grandchildren. |

We have our son living with us rent free for about a year and had to ask him give us $300 a month due to inflation eating up the retirement check... yeah, it was hard to ask for it but he was more than fine with it... Didn't you give him oh I dunno... LIFE!?!?! Typical yank. Always putting money above god, above family. At least your thread got pinned and you got laurels for that. I posted similar months ago and got shamed beyond belief by the yank glp resident silver spoon-bred tards who think money grows on trees. |

User ID: 76559274 Canada 08/05/2022 10:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dude, don't feel bad, especially if you tried to be a good dad. Your conscience tells me it's a good chance you were. It also tell me your son gave you the money, which means you musta did something right. You instilled something in the boy that indicates he also has a conscience. That's sorely lacking these days. Guilt is something I see amongst certain congregations, like my wife, but I remind her on occasion, there are far greater sins to our getting drunk at the weekends and, on a rare occasion, to go a bit overboard. Point is, not all virtue is pure and not all sin is as impure as the narrative leads us to believe. Like bacon and how bad it is for us, because it's what the narrative likes to sensationalize as being an evil to our bodies. My VERY long lineage of bacon eaters would like to gloriously say: WE'RE STILL HERE, BITCH!!! Away from my self indulgence, you instilled respect. He respects you enough not to tell you to go fuck yourself off the bat. The fact you feel so humble about it, tells me quite a bit. |

Lol I hope things turn around for you. $500.00 is a lot of money! Quoting: canalien* I doubt your son will be able to help again. I would borrow money to a family member But only once. I’m sorry for you. Are you ok :rere23: Are you done being a fucking to OP?! I don't know what's worse, your condescending, entitled posts or your idiot fake-concern last lines of your idiotic messages! "lol" |

Anonymous Coward 7777 User ID: 82532047 United States 08/05/2022 10:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, not trying to bust your balls. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80069700 But next time build up a CASH emergency fund of $500-1000 and forget about it. China laughs at us everyday because they know 90% of Americans can't come up with $500. Sometimes, life creates situations that go beyond our control. For example....medical bills, job layoffs, divorce, death in family & funeral expenses, what we watched happen to people in 2020 with these ridiculous lockdowns, etc. Our immediately family (now in Heaven) have always helped each other. Americans base just about everything on money, money, money. If you're not stocked up, paid up, have a fine home paid for or plenty in the bank, it's as though you're a failure. That is not true. In this life, as the Bible says, we will have trials and tribulations, no matter how hard we try or how much we prepare. The OP did the best she could. She financed her son's education. That is beautiful. I am so glad that he could help her. That's called family. |
