Couldn’t afford to. Imagine any large mining centers? On a similar note, you can mine scala pretty profitably right now using a cpu instead of gpu, they even have an android mining app in case you have 100s of old cellphones laying around. It's built on monero's code and low market cap. Check it out. |

Does this mean people can't own crypto in NY or they can't do start ups of new cryptos or what? Is it to prevent competition of the Fed's Test run/pilot orogram of the US digital dollar in NY? Is it even legal for her to do this? |

However, what I got out if it is that it is a lie that bitcoin is anonymous which is something I always also thought was a falsehood. Anything that has to do with computers/digital currency can never be anonymous. Only computer independent currency like cash, gold, silver, etc. can be anonymous. Anonymous Coward User ID: 84810028 11/24/2022 06:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mining consumes very large amounts of electricity. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84810028 Mining creates a very large carbon footprint. Mining doesn't benefit anyone but the mining company. If the mining could be wind, hydro or solar powered which is installed by the mine owners should be zero issue if local residents don't mind. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 54910717 United States 11/24/2022 07:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mining consumes very large amounts of electricity. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84810028 Mining creates a very large carbon footprint. Mining doesn't benefit anyone but the mining company. It's more complex than that. Any alternative consumes large amounts of electricity unless you want to go back to the barter system so the "Carbon footprint" argument is overplayed and weak. Mining benefits everyone by giving actual value to the currency which would otherwise be worthless. Proof of work (mining) cryptos are the only cryptos that hold any real value because they require an input of real world value to be created. All others cryptos (and paper money for that matter) are merely speculation, speculation creates large bubbles and large bubbles get people reckd. Mining cryptos creates a store of value similar to mining gold or silver, the main difference being that gold and silver is tangible and useful for things other than value transfer while cryptos are designed to do just that, and they do it well. |
