Ford will begin reporting its financial results by business unit, instead of by region, and will release revised results that will show how the new business units would have performed in 2021 and 2022.

The changes amount to the most detailed look yet by any legacy automaker into the finances behind the EV business.

Wall Street is taking a wait-and-see approach to the changes, but is expecting significant EV unit losses.

anything pushed from above - including government support - is a dud on the way.

if we needed electric cars, we would eagerly buy them, no government money-dangling needed.

I for one am fond of the idea of placing solar on my property and batteries in my garage and filling up an ev without the need to fossil fuels.

It’s a multi generational thing..

It will occur over longer arc of time…

And it will not disrupt many, most folks..

I am not eco wack or liberal..

But electricity is easier to create, store and transport..

Than fossil fuels.

Research how devastating the mining for the rare earth
minerals are. And look up "abiotic oil".

It's simple to transport the "dead dinosaur juice" that
happens to come from miles under the ocean, as well as
miles underground (those dinosaurs sure could dig a deep grave).

We have Trucks, tanker ships, and those evil pipelines that
transport that juice quite efficiently without the rare
earth mineral mining, transport and manufacture of the
toxic batteries.

Oh yeah, those batteries catch fire often while just
driving around (not carelessness), are almost impossible to
extinguish, and are a disposal nightmare.

And, guess where the electricity comes from?
Natural gas, coal, nuclear, and- oh shit- oil,

Deutsche Bank analyst Emmanuel Rosner believes Ford could be incurring gross losses of about $9,000 per EV sold. The analyst expects Ford to reveal Thursday Model e operating losses of $6 billion for 2022. That’s after accounting for significant research and development investments — roughly 65% of the company’s total R&D — into the EV unit.
