Is it wrong to have a little more money in YOUR pocket at the end of the month? Is it wrong to want your family to be comfortable at least? What's dangerous and worrying is losing all hope for another four years. i think that obama basically practices primitive brainwashing.... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 466960every speech is a massage of the ego...subtle brainwashing...pleasuring the brain... that's why you see people crying and swooning...he is crafting his speeches to have a euphoric effect on them... don't think he doesn't know what he's doing...he's very smart.... but just because he's an effective self-marketer doesn't mean squat... in fact, that only makes him more dangerous...because america is judging him on the wrong merits... we shouldn't judge somebody by how well they can kiss our ass and massage our ego... we shouldn't judge them by how they can reduce us to tears or fainting spells... we should judge their words impartially and objectively.... and nobody's doing that with obama... it's getting really late in this election.. he just might make it without scrutiny at all.... this is pretty worrying.. |

Face it we can't keep going the way we are now, we have to turn this around and make America the shining beacon that it used to be. I am sick of ppl from other countries blaming we the people because of what the ones leading the country have done dragging our good name in the ground. I was very impressed in Obama's speech, he provided though "meat and potatoes" for the ones who say he has no substance and hit the ground running ready to take on McCain and whatever the Repugs throw at him. Plus everyone has to agree that the Democrats put on one helluva show. The statistics of that huge gathering of ppl and having everything run on time with no mishaps must have been staggering but they pulled it off. Quoting: PollyannuhLine item by line item Obama has said he will go through the budget and cut those failed programs and reconstituted those which are successful. That will save money. Bringing our troops home and stopping the hemoragghing of tax dollars will bring BILLIONS of dollars here, at home, where they are needed. Corporations will pay their fair share, unlike McCain wanting to give 4 BILLION DOLLARS in tax breaks to the oil companies and 400 BILLION DOLLARS in tax breaks to large corporations. Time to get with a new program. Time to give Obama a chance to change our country. Polly, you seem like a sincere and nice person. The problem is, I DO listen. Additionally, I understand economics. Obama is a simple revisit of a very old saw. You cannot tax a country into prosperity. Your arguments about corporations and the taxes they pay are meaningless. Corporations do not pay taxes. I know, they file tax returns and pay huge sums to the government (you might want to look up the figure paid by the oil companies you hate so much sometime), but CONSUMERS pay those taxes. If you increase taxes on corporations, you accomplish 2 things: you drive them out of this country to more favorable tax environments, and you increase the cost to the comsumer for the products they create. McCain, I will grant you, is a terrible choice for POTUS, but Obama is dowright scary. |

The war is almost over, and they will come and go. I assume you prefer the years of Clinton where we were hit over and over again and never lifted a finge to defend ourselves? High gas prices are the result of supply and demand, the POTUS has very little control there. However, if you want cheaper gas you need to talk to the Dems who refuse to let us go after our own resources. We have not tortured anyone. I consider waterboarding acceptable when you compare to our enemies beheading people. Health care? If you think it is expensive now, wait until you see how much it costs when it is free. Polly, do you hear yourself? Make it illegal for corporations to leave the country? Corporations are struggling to survive here now. Have you looked into the crash and burn that is happening at GM? What we need in this country is lower taxes and LESS government, not more. We also need to control spending. The R's have totally screwed that up, but historically the Dems have never met a deficit they didn't like. Obama's list of promises will only increase our debt, weaken the dollar, and give you more of what you are worried about in the area of higher gas prices and inflation. I know you don't like Bush. I am not a fan either. . . Don't let that cloud your ability to reason. Obama is not the answer.
