That is when I started learning more about aliens, The NWO, 911 etc etc..all the things that brought me to GLP in the first place. It was like I was guided to find more truths after my spiritual awakening.

I am not an atheist. I believe in a creator. But in no way am I a Christian. I don't believe in hell. I don't believe that a loving God would send me to hell for being human. I hate the blackmailing and threats from some Christians.

 Quoting: zip50

I've been reading the Bible for a few decades and I don't find any of what you are promoting. True there is a hell but it is no bigger deal than taking the 2nd step into the grave. Death itself is the first step and there is no avoiding that reality. The 'extra' step is specifically for sinners on the day of return so if you aren't involved in a war at that time you don't seem to qualify. ....

Are you sure your corrupted view isn't a bit intentional so that you can better fit in with the spiritual crowd that wants to avoid the supernatural beings that are all over the Bible. Once you accept that the old earth version was put there originally you tend to see that the book is 'timeless' and not shy on the details of what is not yet reality.
 Quoting: MHz

First of all, I am not promoting anything. I simply wanted to chat with those that are former Christians, as the title of the thread indicates. Obviously my opinion means nothing to you. Yours also means nothing to me. I highly doubt we could have a productive conversation. Frankly, I am speechless. hiding

Re: A thread for former Christians.
I think a lot of Christians understand the concept of love at the end of Jesus' death grip. It's a "do or die" kind of proposition. Love shouldn't be given as a commandment - it should be given freely. Literally, how many would give more than was asked for at the hands of robbers? Very few, I say. But that's exactly what was taught by Jesus himself.

Not every Christian fits into this category, mind you. Neither do any of those of other faiths. There are awakened Christians who truly understand the admonishments of their Savior. The story of the Samaritan is one that few would themselves follow.

So many are just as villainous and disgusting as the Pharisees and Sadducees (sp?) of Jesus' time...without even realizing it. They spit on the spirituality of others, accepting only the "law" of Christ, instead of the true teachings therein.

This was the first seed that was planted in me that ultimately led to my own ascension and enlightenment. The paradigms we're taught to be "God-fearing Christians" are just that - fearful laws that will never result in true growth. It's when we release ourselves from the fears and prejudices of living that we're truly able to find the TRUTH. And the Truth really does set you free...from everything. Including religion.

Amazing isnt it? They are so predictable...like one trick ponies.

Got another yellow brick for you...

Did you know that in the earliest form of Christianity, before the empire hijacked it and changed the doctrines, that none of the Christians could agree on the nature of Jesus? Some said he was only a spirit being, some said just a godly man, and some said he was a God/man. There was NO consensus.

Then Constantine came along and had his council of Nicea.....at which time it was declared BY THOSE MEN that the nature of Jesus was the same as Mithras (the god of the Roman armies) a god/man who was born of a virgin.

So the very nature of the supposed Jesus of the bible was VOTED ON and determined by a council of catholic bishops headed up by a pagan emperor whose only agenda was to have a unified state religion that could compete with Mithraism...because he had to convince the Roman armies to become Christian and embrace Jesus as their god...and that wasn't gonna happen unless Jesus was at least equal in deity and power to Mithras. Hence the vote and hence the doctrinal decree as to the nature of Jesus.

But the rank and file Christians themselves, had no such consensus of belief. Their belief was " no one really knows what Jesus was"...and they all believed whatever they wanted. This of course makes sense if there was never an actual historical person known as Jesus Christ to begin with.

Yet, our churches today teach the diety of Jesus as indisputable doctrine...that he was both god and man....going along with the Council's decree....but why should we believe it?

Thank you....as I said earlier, I still have the heart of a teacher, as I did it for so many years it is second nature to me. However, now what I have to teach is not what Christians want to hear...even though it is solid research and truth. So I share with whomever might want to listen.

I will return tomorrow and build the yellow brick road....

Re: A thread for former Christians.
How many pages since my post?

The discussion is all about resentment, at least from those honest enough to post why they decided to abandon God's Banner to the world: Christianity...

Only one God in history has had interaction with humanity: YahWeh, Jehovah, Elohim, The Father and HIS SON WHO Became Man.

God ain't doing it your way, eh? "No way God is patriarchal" the broad posts. Except such is The Nature HE Chose to Interact with us. Rubs you the wrong way? You must really have a lot of fun trying to make everything in your realm conform to your requirements.

Resentment. Anger so deep-seated you can't deal with the source on a reasonable basis.

Only ONE REAL and Living God: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

The real bitch of the situation is that only The Father Can Deliver you from your self-will and carnal-error. Blaming God for your troubles and disappointments is not only dishonest with yourself it is disingenuous. God didn't Guide you to make the decisions you made that ruined your life and God didn't Guide you to have relationships with others that failed and disappointed. You did all that on your own...

Your really your own worst enemy.

It is pretty plain to see that most Christians in this Laodicean age are making pretenses, not living their lives IN God's Accord. Yet, such circumstance is typical as you would discover were you able to Love God and Trust HIM enough to let HIM Guide your life.

Christianity isn't about being buddies and going to church often, it is about coming to the decision that you can give your life to The Father and taking action to do so.

Jesus Says, "Marvel not that I say unto you, Ye MUST BE Born-Again!" John 3:7

Never were, were you?
So you quit on God and reject what you are unwilling to seek...

But God will NOT give up on you... If you ever Loved Jesus with a True heart, even if only as a child, you will not be lost or condemned...

Pity you can't find it in your heart to Trust HIM and open your heart Unto HIM in earnest & sincere prayer.

As one who has was at his bottom when there was no other option but surrender, I can attest to HIS Reality and the Mercy and Grace HE Will Provide if only we make an effort.

All of you Christians, with what I am sure are only good intentions, are only confirming that I made the right decision. I have been there, done that. I have no intentions of going back to that. I moved on from it and have never regretted it.

Bravo to you kiddo!!! I am 67 and had my first suspicions when I was 17 and dared to challenge this 'god' character by asking who the hell he thought he was by demanding I worship him, by telling me I'm nothing but a loathsome sinner. But, as the 3 Abrahamic religions are designed to do, I was immediately filled with shame, fear and guilt and didn't question again for another 30 years!!! What a waste of time. It's now been about 20 years since I finally removed the yoke of religious mind control and will never look back. There's one "preacher" I love listening to. His name is Bill Donahue. He was once a "fire and brimstone" preacher but finally realized the bible was never meant to be taken literally. He is one man who seems to be able to "read" the hidden messages within all the symbolism and allegories. He's funny to boot.

Re: A thread for former Christians.
I am no longer Christian because I met the Creator. And He is nothing like the monster described in the Bible.

My heart aches to think that Christians believe God is capable of committing such atrocities, to be so blood thirsty, jealous, vindictive, wrathful, hypocritical, and forcing us to bow in fear and worship or suffer in hell for eternity.

To know the truth you must become one with it, and I was privileged to have that Experience. I only wish they could see God the way I do. Beautiful, perfect, indescribable power of Love.

I know beyond all doubt not a single soul will be lost in the end. If there is even one single soul that is still lost, it is not the end. The Creator would never give up on them and would extend eternity indefinitely to give them more time to find their way Home. After all, every soul is merely a fragment of Himself.

God is infinite, and therefore God is within. To truly Know this is to walk without fear. I can speak but I cannot make them listen. They are too set in their ways. But I will share what I know trusting that those who need to hear it, will hear it and find hope.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40496681

When I read scriptures in context from the gospels and Romans in the new testament for example I don't see GOD described as a monster. Wow!! Actually I thought God was a Monster before I started reading the Bible.

How the scriptures listed below that of a monster?

John 3:16

King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Peter 3:9

9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

For one thing, the Source of all Creation is not a "HE!!". It is energy. Prayer? Prayer is when you do all the talking. Meditation is when you do all the listening. Looking at the mess our world is in after all these thousands of years of praying, maybe it's time to STFU and Listen!!

Re: A thread for former Christians.
You are not really awake.

You do not have the correct understanding of what love is. We are living in the age of grace and time is just about up.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46623217

And you do? I would suggest that unconditional love cannot exist here on Earth due to the extremely low vibrational frequency. Once we reach a higher level of consciousness, then we will know and feel what true love is.

Re: A thread for former Christians.
I am in my fifties now, female and a former Christian.

I stopped being a Christian and became a more spiritual person about 8 years ago. I had, what I believe, was a spiritual awakening.

I would be interested to hear why some of you are no longer Christians and if one event led you to where you are today or if you just changed over time. Please share your experiences.

All I can say is that you were never a true Christian.
You might think you were, but you were not.

One of my favorite responses. Such bullshit. You are terrified to think that someone could be and choose to leave it. Therefore you assume that one never was. If I never was, then no one IS.

That's about the 10th time on the thread that someone has used that one.

Re: A thread for former Christians.

He's funny to boot.

beebee, I checked out Bill Donahue. I watched the one on Agnostics. Loved him. Funny guy with a ton of common sense. Thanks for pointing me in his direction. I will watch some more of his videos! hf

My pleasure. He has so many videos, it's hard to decide which ones to watch. So far, I have not found any that didn't resonate well with me.

Maybe the "HE" idea came from the movie "The Ten Commandments" when that big booming voice from above boomed down to Moses. lolsign
