I created a company that involves moving. Your job is to sit at home and make calls from a list I provide. You should make around $800-1000 per week. Are you a good salesperson with a great phone voice??? INTERESTED?

I've had "should make" jobs before...never worked out. And yeah, great phone/reading voice.

check out the Home Shopping Network over in St. Pete (hsn.com, bottom of page, career opportunities). They have a great variety of jobs that may suite you & also a decent company to work for as well. Cheers & good luck!

Re: Discouraged after move to Tampa, Florida. Need creative job.
I was brought here with a higher purpose - but I'm still wanting to learn what that was exactly. All spiritual roads led me here.

I had a pretty great job in my former state FAR out west. But since being here I haven't felt like I'm even on the trail of anything...it took nearly everything I had to get here and now I'm getting beat down by my own desire to succeed, but being aimless about it.

Anyone in the area know of creative work that's available that may/may not be posted somewhere on the interwebz? I have an amazing woman I want to take care of who has a great job, but she's ready to leave and we've been talking about having a baby in the future. I want to make that happen...

I'm literally humbled by the entire experience. I've only been here a week-and-a-half, but it feels like an eternity because I want somewhere to put all of my waning energies.

Please, GLP...find a way to guide me - positively. I'm already in the dumps enough today.

Thanks.

if you have 8-15k in liquidity, you can buy the cooksey bible of wrist and pocket watches, learn it inside and out, use gooogle, go to ebai and filter out antique patek and rolex only and you will find amazing deals. right now, for a 26k investment, you can buy a rolex 6062 triple date moonphase in an 18k gold case with black dial, call up christies-or more easily antiquorum, send it in for the next auction in december i believe, and collect your 200-450k. it is that easy. there are deals like that every day. suppliments my income juuuuust fiiine. just gooogle christies and rolex 6062---you'll see. antiques, not new, because much, much less chance at fakes. always make sure it is hand wind or automatic WITH VERIFIABLE SERIAL NUMBERS!

how's that for your eccentric opportunity?

Two ideas for you:

Become a picker...resell garage sale, estate sale, and thrift store items. Do some research on ebay and etsy to see what sells. A small investment could turn big profits, this will require some effort on your part.

Start a blog: put your unique spin on a topic, build a page, blog, and get advertisers...talking point: the flock of wild parakeets that roam Tampa area (I saw them there during a visit about 7 years ago...) find out more about the parakeets, photo them, give them names and personalities, start facebook pages for them...(just an idea)..funny I thought of these same parakeets last night and told my partner that seeing them was on the list of the coolest things I have ever seen (slightly long list).

These are sincere ideas from my heart.

Good Luck.

Geez I guess the whole scene in Florida is going from bad to worse. I for one wouldn't go there even to visit. But just that fact that it is impossible to compete right now with reverse discrimination makes me wonder.. a good script... you know James Woods is now a conservative..and the film production business is going strong in Florida.. so give it a try.. good money..ah well

I was born and raised in Tampa, Fl. I lived there 50 years and then moved away. Its too bad you moved there. Leave while you still can. You would have been better out west than there. When disaster strikes you will not be able to get out of Florida ...you will be trapped. Don't be seduced by the beaches and the palm trees and year around warm weather. You won't have a future anywhere in Florida.

Sorry to have to tell you that but you had better put all those energies into getting out of there and now is not time to even be thinking about having a baby.

Don't you realize that we are at the precipice of WW3. It ti going to become hell on earth and down hill from here.

You had better think about surviving instead of dreaming.

As far as being in the dumps.......get over it and focus all your attention and energy into packing up and moving out fast.

Better listen to your "amazing woman" who wants to leave. Apparently she is smarter than you are.

Best wishes and best of luck. Now get on the stick, shake a leg and boogie out of Florida.

I don't know what "spirits" your were listening to but they were apparently the wrong ones.

When disaster comes you need to be AT LEAST 2000 feet in elevation. I am above 5000 feet where I am. And you need to be away from any and every coast line.

Re: Discouraged after move to Tampa, Florida. Need creative job.
I went to Tampa Craigslist/ community and found a posting about a monthly Art and Soul Festival. Check that out, meet up with like-minded people. Lots of other interesting (creative minded) ads. Then I looked at jobs available in art/media/design and there were plenty.
When you lose confidence, and fear creeps in to the inner sanctuary, you begin to subconsciously repulse opportunities. When within you are still, and you allow yourself to feel expansive, happy free and abundant regardless of your external seeming limitations, opportunities will present themselves like magic. It's like we are always chanting a mantra whether we are aware of it or not. Yours might be 'shit shit shit I need a job! Make a conscious mantra and chant it within- like 'Every day, in every way, I enjoy abundant creative work for abundant pay'
ok that is corny but you get my point.

I myself and moving to Tampa in under 2 weeks and scared to death and after reading some of these comments, it sure didn't help me any.

The OP's comments and yours I will take and run with it.
I appreciate your positive attitude and really try to remain this way myself, but your right. Fear always creeps in.

I have 3 kids coming along for this ride so I just hope I'm doing the right thing. Schools are much larger than where we come from. I made sure to look for good schools before I found a place, that was most important.

If you haven't already try using sites like www.elance.com or www.freelancer.com to pick up work. Try using craigslist as well -- it has helped me both in finding work and marketing my businesses. You may want to also consider creating your own copywriting/consulting business that you can do from home. Also try to establish a web presence for your visual art -- either by marketing it yourself or getting someone to market it for you. You may have to work out side of your fields (AKA, retail, etc) while you build up your businesses -- but in the long run it's always best to have multiple income streams.

I know how you feel -- I'm a writer, photographer and Information Technology specialist/consultant -- and I am also working retail on occasion when I hit dry spells.

If you are ready to go sooner than later that is fine but don't discourage others from asking opinions. This guy wants to leave and he just got there.

I can tell you that after I moved from Tampa, Fl.....I did move back to Florida but on the east coast.

I too was only there for one week and turned right around and moved out of Florida.

It is his choice and he really wants to go or he wouldn't be asking.

Unfortunately, "they pay you in sunshine" here in Florida. If you haven't heard that one yet, you will eventually.

As a Master's level child & family therapist, I was only getting paid $28k in FL.

There are a lot of good suggestions on this thread. All I can add is to follow your heart. You've been guided here for a reason....

You could try setting up some type of roadside art table in one of the more touristy locations? I know that's not gonna make you a living but it might give you enough to eat until something better comes your way. That said MOVE. I know you sound like you have your heart set on staying there but there are just so many reasons to NOT be in Florida it's overwhelming. Not to mention the fact that the local economy and job opportunity get dramatically worse the further south you go and I say this from personal experience. You might want to consider getting a foot-in-the-door position in some other profession as well. Artists of any sort are a dime a dozen these days. I do freelance work and go to college for a completely different major despite my love for art. I still do it on the side, but I'm being realistic about making my living at it.
