User ID: 63219621 United States 11/05/2014 12:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Years of blood, sweat and tears. Gone in a fire that the Fire Marshall says is unexplained. No discernible cause. Quoting: Azaziah We will rebuild, as best and as quickly as we can. It took less than an hour. Apparently temperatures reached 700 degrees inside. There will be a track hoe here tomorrow to drag what's left of the building into a hole and bury it. I told my wife that I started this business in my garage, and I can re-start it in my garage. Any orders that did not ship before Friday were burned up. The new building was not even finished yet, not appraised, and not insured. Even so, I trust the Lord. Prayers sent up, OP ! Hang in there ! Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |

Although having no insurance doesn't seem to fit. We have been expanding, and in the spring added the new building. It was basically being finished as we used it... it was a few weeks from being all done, and it was great to finally have room. I was going to have an appraisal done when it was finished. Never saw this coming. |

I was going to get an appraisal and insurance when it was done. Quoting: Azaziah OP - Check your policy on the existing structure closely. Renovations/expansions can be part of the policy when on the same property. If the work is being performed by someone else there is something called Builder's risk insurance ("Licensed, Bonded and Insured"). Depending on your municipality this can be a requirement for the builder to pull building permits. For future work, check if you can purchase Builder's risk insurance yourself. Again, depending on your municipality, you can get coverage regardless of who is doing the work. In short, don't give up just yet! Review the insurance laws in your area. Certainly ask a 3rd party if there's a way to make you whole again if needed! |

Good luck to you OP, you sound like you have the will to land back on your feet. This fire may be indicating that you are to relocate somewhere else. Be mindful of this possibility and actively "look" for the "window" God has provided. It is unwise to remain in any sizable city today. |

"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

Your new building or your inventory may have been covered by some other insurance. You may be able to recover. Who was building the building? They must have had insurance. Like you said, Opie, you built it in your garage and you can build another. No one was hurt. We all get scraped into the earth one day anyway. Life is just school. You must be a pretty advanced student to get a challenging day like today. Teacher knows you can rise to the challenge. Smile. It's a terriific compliment. |
