The data...the numbers are completely suspect and unreliable, as well as unbelievable.

Twice today, the reservoir elevation supposedly remained unchanged over the course of an hour, although inflow and outflow varied significantly (according to the numbers).

This is physically impossible.

And the proliferation of negative inflow numbers. WTF? It is certainly possible to have zero inflow. But negative inflow? Is God himself sucking up the water?

Of course, DWR has a disclaimer on the page...'this information is preliminary and subject to change" etc.

I have been watching the data for this reservoir daily for more years than I care to remember. I cannot recall ONE instance of DWR correcting erroneous data after the fact. Not one.

Honestly, I would like to witness one of those 'negative inflow' events. I am sure it would be something to see.

Level drop slowing down now. Panic must be setting in

Must be worrying for them starting the diversion tunnel. Wonder if they have tested them yet.

If there are any problems, downstream is toast.

At this point, there isn't really any risk of flooding downstream with a nearly empty reservoir. The risk of issues will arise as the reservoir refills, either slowly or quickly.

However, the migratory salmon downstream need the river to keep flowing.

And I guess those nearly extinct Delta Smelt down in Sacramento need the fresh water inflow as well.

If the CA DWR can't keep the river flowing for the next 3-4 months, it might be toast for those fish.

I am interested to see how DWR handles this. I suspect heads are rolling as we speak.

I believe I read yesterday that former DWR spokesperson Erin Mellon (who lied to me/us regarding the Oroville reservoir) is now Governor Newsom's spokesperson.

And of course, Newsom is about to be recalled. Interesting times.

I have the radio scanners running and just cracked a fresh cold one. Bring it.
