I have a berkey which I use anyway because the tap water is disgusting.... it will do stream water from nearby just fine. I have a month of water stored though. I also have gutters to collect any rain water. did that some several years ago when my water was shut off for a week to wash dishes in and that sort of stuff. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73734573 South Africa 11/19/2019 01:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's one that explains a lot of what is happening to our agriculture across America. Scary reports. Quoting: KTee Great summary, what I think people also miss is this is not just a US thing, its a not a matter of some crop failure in US, but a series of world-wide events, in a lets face it globalized world. For example southern Africa has been in a massive drought, I am not sure the farm situation in detail, but I do know of farmers that didn't even bother to plant, animal feed is rising in cost from shortages, I know some maize based products disappeared of the shelves (may not be related but who knows), I know guys in the Free State who are planting lucerne in their (large) back yard to sell as farmers are facing such a shortage. Then there is AU droughts, I believe issues in Pakistan/India I think, then the pork thing etc etc. Another thing that I think is really important, and a lot of people seem to neglect regarding GMO is what she says around 6:30ish (weaponizing food), to me the biggest (and show-stopping) issue with GMO is you cannot save the seeds from this years crop to plant next year. As farmers switch to GMO from a locally acclimatized crop, in a season or too they have no "traditional" seed left, and become 100% reliant on purchasing more from the seed maker. This will result in one or two companies controlling the entire worlds food supply by controlling the seed supply, and that will not end well for us. |

The stuff on sale anyway. But I needed eggs and bread and butter. Ya know the 2 lb tubs you could buy? Country crock or an off brand that was normally a bit cheaper? Well, my store went from 2 lbs to 15oz at 1.89. (can't even call it a tub of margarine anymore) If i would of been able to go elsewhere I would of but I needed it then so I had to buy it. I get to the register and say something about it and he looked at me as if he didn't know what i was talkin about and gave me some lame excuse that they had switched distributors.. Riiiiight. The egg selection usually had 18 to a carton but I had to buy a doz at the same price. It's gettin bad now. Going on a major shopping on the 23rd.. will report on what I find. Did you not have a good supply of the margarine you use put away in your freezer, so you could use from there and replace when you find a better price? Have to ask why you are using that poisonous fake stuff - why not real butter, that is good for us and is on sale at this time of year, though I only use butter and wouldn't buy margarine at any time - we get enough poisons we can't avoid - sure don't want to buy them deliberately. I do the same in the Autumn, but come spring time I begin bagging green lawn clippings in my Honda HRX mower and I add them to the leaves from the previous autumn. Composting is all about the carbon/nitrogen ratio. Some call it the Green/Brown ratio. Same thing. Nitrogen is what fuels the microbes breaking down the organics. Get the ratio correct and the compost heats up and finishes in 4-6 weeks. My leaves are broken down to compost by June with said green grass clipping added in spring. MAGA |
