Of course the news won't report this and the politicians RUSH to pass legislation to regulate this because they see this as an opportunity they can't let go to waste.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78019862

That's right because SOMBODY gots to make money from this and it's not the vape manufacturers.

Just like when rolling your own smokes used to be cheap and then the all new taxes for the children made it as expensive as a pack.

Now that 5 dollar bottle of fluid's gonna cost you 20 bucks because somebody just has GOT to make money off of it.

And if you think it's because of health reasons, why you need to pay 20 bucks a bottle for it. Just like Kratom, the killer plant rising up out of the asian part of the world is striking poor souls dead in their tracks.

For the children.

Fentanyl most likely put in the counterfeit cartridges. Chicoms want us dead.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76947138

I personally feel some of the cheaper cartridge's have very inferior metal components , with some parts even having a cheap coating on them. Ive vaped and I noticed the horrible taste of metal coating being vaped right along with the ingredient. It leaves a horrible taste in your mouth. Use of only the more surgical type steel, is shall we say more preferred. Unfortunately some people just do what ever, and it doesn't cross their minds. Much like doctors prescribing harmful medications and people self medicate their preferred dosage?
Be careful and be smart.hf
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78011019

I tried vaping a couple britelabs cartridges....one tasted fine the other tasted like burnt rubber. It was awful. So i can imagine what bootleg street vaping stuff does. That one cartridge turned me off to vaping thc. I will never do that again. I was even debating weather to throw it in the trash and co sider it a loss. Oh well!
 Quoting: PooPooPlatter 77063583

Yea I vape, it saves money. I get the bad boy cartridges now, don't buy the Chinese crap being put out. Just look at the cartridge's and their quality or the lack there of.
The other thing is I pull up at a light, and someone next to me is vaping or in front of me too, and its like the Cheech and Chong movie with their window down. If I would be taking hits like they are id be dead in no time. Jeeze no one knows moderation? I guess im a light weight, but I just like a little puff or 2 during the day while im pounding away at my grunt lifestyle sweating my ass off. One cartridge last me 2 months.
But I think all of this crap going on is like most recognize here. Its fucking the tobacco industry hard, especially when people can do things on their own. But lets face it they sell millions of packs of cigarettes' for decades, and suddenly their health conscience? I don't think so, ive lost many family members to cancer from smoking and they never gave two shits! And the CDC is death incorporated in my opinion. Seriously forcing millions world wide to take deadly cocktails into their bodies, is clinical insanity. Ive never taken a flu shot in my life and never will! They are a global entity bent on world dominance through compliance. They are the enemy, if you've done your homework that is.KD

Yeah, No. THC isn’t killing anyone.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78025550

They mix the THC with vitamin E acetate to make it vapeable. This causes the alveoli in the lungs to become unable to convert air into CO2 and causes the respiratory problems and death.

Re: CDC Says Illegal Vape Drugs, Not Vaping, Responsible For Rash Of Hospitalizations
Vitamin E acetate is hazardous when inhaled. It's what was used in the black market THC cartridge's.

Vaping has been popular for about 11 years. All of the sudden we have a few deaths and it's a big issue. Sound a little fishy?

5 deaths and 450 lung illnesses vs 100k plus deaths from tobacco a year. And how many from drunk driving. But they want to ban Vaping.

Also the states are borrowing millions against the tobacco sales money they get each year, and vaping is cutting in to the tobacco sales at about 3% a year.

Sound a little fishy?

Re: CDC Says Illegal Vape Drugs, Not Vaping, Responsible For Rash Of Hospitalizations
Dr Dana Meaney-Delman is leading the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s investigation into the culprit behind at least five confirmed deaths and 450 reported cases of lung illness linked with use of the devices.

The agency is recommending that people refrain from the use of any electronic cigarette or vaping device until there is more conclusive evidence of a cause, she said in an interview.

“We’re trying to prevent any additional cases and deaths,” Meaney-Delman said.

She has reviewed data so far from 64 patients, including cases published on Friday in the New England Journal of Medicine as well as other reports. Eighty percent of those patients reported the use of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of cannabis, she said.

So they can make it into whatever they want and so the feds can trace back what they are able to and arrest the maker while they are reading about it.

I read somewhere they have been finding the bootleg thc cartridges with vitamin E as the medium instead of vegetable glycerin

I do and vaping is wierd to me....but...in places where discretion is courtesy, they can be handy. I think i have taken 2 puffs on it this month and 3 or 4 last month. I only picked it up for a taste of pineapple.
I presumed kids were sucking flavor vapes like candy or coke and that was it. Thats only inflammation. The oil thing is a mess. Complicated to treat i imagine.

Re: CDC Says Illegal Vape Drugs, Not Vaping, Responsible For Rash Of Hospitalizations
FWIW: Rumors here in Colorado is that a rogue group (un regulated/taxed and not inspected, i.e., black market) is selling cannabis vape products (mostly THC) diluted with vitamin E acetate instead of the allowed diluents like MCT oil, etc. Vit E is for topical/ingestion use only and should never be vaped as it will cause a hard oily buildup in the lungs. The problem is that Vit E oil is very cheap in comparison to the allowed diluents.

These "rumors" are coming from a very good source and Colorado may be the origination point for these black market products.

Hope this is helpful.

I have learned much over my years and I will share with you three points. Mainly because of your response.

1) True knowledge and learning is limited only by that limit which we place upon ourselves. ( That is an original quote, of mine )

2) For years, schools have taught it backwards. Schools have taught students to seek answer's. "Educators", should have taught and should be teaching to seek "the unanswered question" and how to find that unanswered question. To provoke thought.

3) The limit of accepted knowledge today is merely that step of knowledge that exists today. There is always more. There is always a next step. Knowledge is infinite.

Wow, I said verifiable. So I went to the article that was in that link and I get this "Experts cast doubt on coroner's claim woman killed by cannabis in first ever 'THC overdose' in US".

So not only is that case verifiable "Experts cast doubt", so in other words they said his determination was bullshit. Your linked article also says that it is the first case, so lets use a little logic here. People have been smoking weed for centuries and no one has died from it, ever. Then we have one solitary case, where the coroner said this"He added: “I’m thinking this lady must have vaped this THC oil and got a high level in her system and (it) made her stop breathing, like a respiratory failure.”. Actually the woman who died in this case is probably one of the first to die from vaping THC in vitamin E. Vitamin E is what scientists are now blaming the 9 deaths from vaping. So in this one case, it wasn't the THC that killed her it was the Vitamin E acetate that was the base of the vape.

It's for pain relief and/or mood enhancor. Haven't heard of it killing anyone. It's a very mild drug IMO. And its best uses are for pain relief. The euphoria and mood effects are nice mild effects, but you easily build up a tolerance.

Not sure why it's illegal in some parts...
