Preppers are you prepared for 3 years?

Nope. Not prepped for 3 years. If everyone would leave us alone for that length of time, we could live, but we'd be super skinny.

Things are going to get bad and fast! the media and banks are delaying for now but very soon it will all crash...

But how do you prep for 3 years? and what comes after that?

You don't have to prep for 3 years, you only need to prep for about 6 months. By then 90 percent of the population will have starved to death and if you manage to survive that long you have the resources to yourself and anyone else who managed to survive. If you are close to a body of water, know the local edible plants and have shelter you can make it. Start reading up on survival now. SAP manual is good, also Wildwood Wisdom, and make sure you buy up lots of seeds and have a fishing rod, bow and arrow or crossbow, or a slingshot for weapons for hunting.

Re-use seeds from plants in garden, get a pig or cow. find somewhere off the beaten path and off the grid.

I am in LA so water is my problem, Will the water company provide water without chlorine? As it comes from china!

Can bug out to a place we own with a river in the back yard!
I dont want to pack up like 4000 pounds of food, live animals and 1000 pounds of feed, The sprouting and hydro equipment!! a thousand pounds of seed

You really only need about a month since most people will die during the first month of the crisis.

You have to hide and wait it out and then you should be able to scavenge easier after the first month. The big thing to have stocked up is clean drinking water, that will be hard to come by.

That's how we live. Saving seeds, plant, harvest, repeat...Our own chickens and other livestock. But providing literally everything for yourself and livestock definitely takes time; and culling would be pretty cutthroat.

We can easily make a year---Unless attacked by a roving band of very capable marauders.

People think they can just go off and live alone in the woods no problem, but twisting an ankle could be life threatening. Weather, poisonous spiders, snakes. You need a friend at least.

Like I said, 3 years if we could be left alone? Yeah, but nothing glamorous or fun about it.

I better get more food for the wife, I'll get her nice and fat to eat her later.

In the Uk it is buying 2 weeks of tea and biscuits :)

3 weeks . . . 3 years is too far to look ahead.

It depends on how lethal this virus actually is outside of China as to whether or not we will all go back to the dark ages.

If it is actually a DNA targeted virus, outside of Asia will mostly just experience economic collapse. If it's lethality is across the spectrum of all humanity and it kills 20 percent or more....It could go wild weasel all over.

The banks will own all homes shortly.

I have read in the past that getting pool chlorine granules is better than chlorine bleach as the bleach will degrade quickly but the granules will last maybe up to 5 years.

As I've said before, we could relocate to a country area, but other than step-son and their family, we don't know anyone there and aren't certain about the marauding hordes.

We could conceivably grown our own food and keep chickens and step-son has a well. But the pump is electric. Wish we still had the place in Arkansas - it had a well that had a hand pump on it. Don't know why people don't put those in to prep for any power outages.

But if this thing goes on very long at all, probably the urban areas will be hardest hit first - but if the urbanites have any transportation, they will quickly think of getting out to the country folks who may have prepped and then we are talking - kill or be killed - not good.

I'm surrounded by huge lakes full of trout. Boar and deer galore. Very few people around these parts.

You don't need preps if you know what to do in the wild.

Rifle, ammo, fishing gear and fire. The rest nature provides.

You'll be the first one eaten. People don't help each other, people kill each other.

This is what kills me about preppers, they dont realize they will be the targets for the mobs....and a rifle isnt any match against a volley of flaming arrows.

2020 is so doomy, I'm thinking the only prep I need is a gun, a bullet and a good aim.

I could do about 2 years, maybe 3 depending if the crops come in. You never know when your gonna be hit with blight and insects that totally destroy your crops in days. That's not including fickle weather that looks great and then you plant all your seeds, they begin to sprout, and a cold snap sets in to kill all your seedlings...

Plenty of meat for a year...

Blanched carrots and string beans that will last a few months. Cases of quart mason jar canned beans with bacon...Yum!!!

Plenty of pancake mix large sealed bags that should last at least 6 months or more...

A variety of canned goods that will last at least 6 months...

Might be restocking canned fruit salad, peaches, pineapple, and sweet potatoes depending on how bad it gets...

Lots of Pasta and a big burlap bag of white rice...

Have sugar to last at least 5 years or more all stored in Mason Jars...

Also will be stocking up on cooking spray...

Should be ok. Now I just need to get some tobacco seeds otherwise, I'll just go cold turkey on the cigs...

I got enough rice to start my own takeaway, but probably won't have the running water nor gas to cook it on after a few weeks of a real doom scenario. Raw rice and a painful death for me

First rule of prepping is dont talk about prepping!
And here in the uk we don't have guns! This will be sticks and stones :)
