Exactly. At least the beach and getting outside is good for our health. It strengthens our immune system. Some believe all this sheltering in place has weakened our immune system.

is it forbidden at GLP to link to The Internet Archive? I had some warning when first attemping to post and landed in the sin-bin/banned. Anyhow there's an excellent audio collection of drum styles from 1904-1928 there plus complete collections of singers from The Roaring Twenties era.

That was an excellent movie, where a man time travels by accident into the 1920's in Paris. Now I'll have to watch it again.

He meets a whole bunch of the "lost generation" people there. Very well written and produced.

Here he meets the F. Scott Fitzgeralds and Ernest Hemingway

So true. My mom was born December of ‘28. They all lived on farms and were poor but everybody was the same so she said she didn’t know anything different. Now because of movies and tv we all know what poverty really is. Kids can’t be sheltered from it like they were back then.

no - it didn't involve Mr. Peabody's time travel machine but was rather a reference to Josef von Sternberg's great movie "The Blue Angle" with Marlene Dietrich and Emil Jannings - fabulous movie - the "cock a doodle doo" (cuck a doodle) scene is memorable.

Yep then in 1929 it all fell apart.
 Quoting: MissCleo

But, it was a hell of a ride before the crash! The twenties were a magical time. The market was going through the roof, and nobody knew that Wall St was all bull-shit. We had flappers, and speakeasies, to keep us distracted. Kids played in the streets until after dark. There were no perverts raping and killing children. The press reported the news, instead of making it. Movies were all about values, not sex and violence. Everyone knew their neighbors, and shared what they had. Everyone supported America through all the trials. Everything was made in America, and built to last. Communists were known by all to be the enemy.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
