Cleaned out the chicken coop.

Harvested 2 chickens, green beans and lots of arugula.

Gotta love organic.

Last year, someone gave me 5 old hens, because she knew I wanted them for meat and eggs. I harvested one, and it basically traumatized me. I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't know how to reconcile that the chicken is food when she stops laying eggs.

I searched for my damn nylon braided spark cable for my dji spark to no avail. I ended up ordering a new one off of amazon at 6 pm. It won’t get here until Monday so that means I won’t be able to make a movie until Wednesday because I’m going to need the entire day of Tuesday to hone my drone piloting skills.

I consumed about 1000 mgs. of caffeine today so there won’t be any alcohol consumption tonight or any night because I gave up alcohol 15 years ago. I may end up taking 20 mgs. of Cialis at 9 pm though.

Right now I’m watching Little House On The Prarie. Jeopardy is next. I live for Jeopardy.

It's wine o'clock. I homeschooled today, my children alternated between playing and arguing, discovered my teen made my younger daughter an account on a social media profile she doesn't need, broke more garden ground with a pickaxe, let the chickens out of the run, chased them out of the established garden for the next many hours....Then I sat in the yard and literally cried because (of anger) the world has gone to shit, and I'm the only one in my family who seems to care if we eat this fall.

So I'm going to spend the rest of the evening refreshing glp, and drinking, and hoping you guys post some profound stuff.

What did you do today?
 Quoting: Crazy Chicken Lady

Its ok Chicken Lady. You are not alone. I like chickens and have many...they will ruin everything if you don’t protect what you have. Its not easy if you pasture raise your birds. Put up poultry netting around everthing.damned
 Quoting: Still

Ugh, yes, I didn't let them out last year (our first year here) but it's so bare in the run other than the straw, and our yard was seeded with weeds. So I figured it would cut down on feed and yardwork if I let them out. But we are out of wire, so I have to chase them out of two garden areas. Hopefully we can get some tomorrow. Incidentally, I figured out how awesome it is to try to eat a sandwich outside with chickens running around, lol.
 Quoting: Crazy Chicken Lady

Have you tried sprinkling tasty grain where you'd LIKE them to go (i.e., NOT the garden areas)? Also, if you try to feed them in the late afternoon at about the same time (and include the day's vegetable peelings, stale bread, and other "treats" along with their supper) they'll be in the chicken yard waiting for you after a few days.

I was surprised as well. Spot is the only remaining member of the six little chicks we bought 9 years ago. We added some new hens a few years ago and they are laying fine. Spot still looks good and cranks out a few eggs every week.

Doing a crash course in goats and chickens. Holy fuck. Wanted to do this anyway, but now we're doing it all at once. Two Nigerian dwarf goats, one is two years, away from a larger herd. The other, two months; we've been bottle feeding her. Got the first round of Dr morning her today..gotta do it in two steps because her horns are kinda big at two months old. Poor baby. Got two rounds of chickens living in a fucking bedroom. The teens are SO ready to go outside, but we don't have a coop yet. Chicks are selling out fast around here, so we had to get them while we could. Animals first then infrastructure. FUCK. It's exhausting. Thought we would have more casualties in the chicks. But we 've only had two. We over bought. Lololol!!! And the goats have scurvy now. Two city kids throwing this together as fast as we can. My little lap dog is SO glad I am inside and resting right now! We wanted to do this anyway, but not this fast!! Holy fuck!! It's working so far, but I am exhausted, and the house is trashed, as well as the yard.5a

I am making Tex Mex cheese enchiladas right now they are almost done, this is the first time I have made them.

I loved the cheese enchiladas and other Mexican food from Texas so I am now trying to learn to cook it.

I live in Washington now and the Mexican food here just isn't the same, it was actually a lot better when I lived in Alaska, some Mexican guys from Texas moved there during the pipeline years, some stayed and ended up opening restaurants, darn good food.
