Pretty much everything was there in stock, with the exception of toilet paper....again. Meat is bountiful. Vegies are bountiful. The only thing I'm bummed out that two visits in a row they don't have tabasco sauce. Embrace your creative side before you die. |

User ID: 30780236 United States 04/26/2020 08:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Stores have gone Stasi around here. Foot traffic has now become directional with "DO NOT ENTER" signs in the aisle if you are going the wrong way. Public service announcements about hand washing and distancing. More masks than not even though not mandated here. Quoting: Irish eyes I was looking for Orajel. All out. Apparently many others have tooth pain and can't get to the dentist because of Dr Douchie. Going out anymore really brings me down and that just shouldn't be. What state? Yah, in FL have arrows and "corrals" too, but the corrals have been less enforced, down to where someone just stands there with a counter, I mean maybe they never hit their overload number, IDK. Missouri. The state that can't make up it's mind whether it's red or blue. The grocery workers union appealed to the governor to make masks mandantory in public so far he has not. Irish eyes |

User ID: 78489932 United States 04/26/2020 08:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’m a meat cutter in Louisiana. I’ll try the explain the best I can. Stores are still running some low price sales as availability dictates. We typically run out of half the sale items midweek with no re-stock. Grocery chains are fighting for the reserves. That’s what we are functioning on, reserves. Most of the “fresh” chicken and pork we’ve been getting in over the past month is frozen rock solid, like concrete. We have to thaw the pork for two days just to be able to break apart to cut. Beef is not as bad, still some items frozen or looks like older stock. Prices will continue Togo up across the board but stores will still run “ hook” specials. Don’t expect that to last , even for a full week that the ad gets run. Most of the higher ups run the ads without a full knowledge of even if they can cover it and let the in-store employees deal with the complaints. My advice, get and stock up on what you can NOW as far as meat. If a sale starts on a Wednesday or Thursday, get it then, if they have it. Don’t wait till the end of the sale week. Even if you get a raincheck, there’s no telling when an excess of that product will come in. Some will still be a available in the coming months but prices will go through the roof. It’s already happening across the board. Just because your market has great sales this week, it doesn’t mean it’ll be like that forever. Take care. "Be like water my friend”- Bruce Lee |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78466715 Same here - bought chicken leg quarters - $5 for 10 lbs. Box of frozen hamburger patties 6lbs @ $16. Vac packed Atlantic salmon $7.75 for a 1lb filet. Usual amount of frozen convenience foods like pizza, burritos chimis etc. I suspect this won't last though... |

Now with the handy coronahoax they can shut down the packing plants indefinitely. The people who raise the livestock will have to cull the animals because they can't send them to the packing plants so they will never recover. This is already happening with pigs and chickens. Soon meat becomes unobtainable for us. Honestly, I do see the fingerprint of these climate control people ALL over this COVID, paper too, they hate us using any paper products, you know trees and all. Notice how right after shut downs the media started putting out these touchy feely stories like, oh, the swans have come out in Copenhagen now that the humans are gone, or the manatees have come out in FL now that humans are gone, what a total crock. |

Are these items that were from China? Possibly. Quoting: Keilani I remember reading years ago that chickens slaughtered in the USA were being sent to China to be processed -- what could go wrong with that supply chain ? well, it did save $0.43 per whole chicken profits come first |

Yes, they're counting how many people in and out, and only allowing certain capacity, like let's say it's 50%, and the store has capacity of 200, then after 100 people, you have to stand and wait at the "corral" until one leaves, one in, one out. Yes, it is rather creepy, I think I almost find the arrows creepier, messes with your brain, training it to go in certain directions, stressful, like if you get something in the end of that aisle, technically, you're supposed to walk through whole aisle before you can get out of it, like a maize. Then of course you have all the clowns, who block the whole aisle forever pondering what to buy, and so then you have to pass them anyways and of course are closer than six feet, so the whole thing is quite the joke/hoax, whatever. |

Here's the problem, many livestock were lost in the last couple years over many states. Due alot to weather, floods, diseases. Especially last year. So .. what we are functioning on is what should have been sold gradually this year and into next. We're basically behind a year instead of a ahead. Last year suppliers were devastated and are depending on this year to rebound. With all the crap with covid, umm, not gonna happen. Just made things worse. There may be some local butchers in your area still able to get from local farms. That'd be the best route for constant meat. "Be like water my friend”- Bruce Lee |

No one wants to say it out loud but it's because (around here anyway) it is nearly fully staffed with illegal immigrants. They buy ss #s to work under but it's not a secret they're not legal. Plus, listen to what these jerks were doing. They had people coming into work with fevers, and slapped a mask on them and sent them back out onto the line. I don't know whether they don't know about the social distancing stuff because of a language barrier or if they just flat won't do it, but they do not follow the rules (shocker, I know considering if they valued such things they wouldn't be here to begin with). So now, my rural barely populated county has one of the highest rates of infection because of 2 meat plants and their sketchy hiring practices. Edit to add: The employees had no choice, they can't just go get a job anywhere so they are desperate to keep this job. These plants are very strict and will fire them immediately if they don't do as they're told. Last Edited by Redneck hussy on 04/26/2020 08:48 PM Redneck hussy |

(OP) User ID: 77232079 United States 04/26/2020 08:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was really surreal seeing a cop at the entrance of our grocery store with a clerk next to him, letting people in. He was very kind and friendly, humorous, too, but it was just odd to us. Never would have pictured that happening up in our neck of the woods. Quoting: ScarlettRedfern Whatever was on the shelves in the meat department was all that they were going to put out for the day, it appears, as the meat room was shut down when we were there. There was meat in the cases, but low levels. All the other departments were pretty well stocked, but some grocery items are low like pastas and pasta sauces. We got what we needed, though, so we're good. Gosh, that's really odd to have a cop sitting there. What state are you in. I mean I'm in a fairly big city, so the bigger Walmarts and some other stores always have cop cars out front, but they're not sitting there greeting people at the doors. That would make me feel really unsettled. I did hear that National Guard is out in some stores in Cali in uniform, but then I heard that they are actually in stores across the nation, but in plain clothes, so who knows. Like other day at front door there was a guy doing the "people counting" that I know doesn't work there, and he did in fact remind me of a copy type. |
