Carmen is too important for the economy of the Yucatan. I think they'll do whatever they can to keep/re-open. As good a bet there as anywhere.

Do not buy property in Mexico because a foreigner cannot own any land in Mexico, just the structure. Rent only, so you can just walk away incase the cartels or the government confiscates your property and demands a ransom. Do you live in a gated community with security guards protecting you from kidnappers ?.

I have actually considered moving to Nicaragua as I think very soon Latin America will be safer than the US, and Nicaragua is cheaper to live, although gringos pay more. I don't know if I could take the heat though.

Mexico has no real justice system so if you are wronged in anyway forget about it. Also I work remote so a solid internet connection is a must.

Costa Rica might be worth exploring, since it's basically been designated as an eco-tourist zone, so a lot of Globalist/Elite types dive, hike, etc., there. But ownership is difficult and as an eco-tourist location, that's their playground and they protect it.

Southeast Texas has shown as Canadian for years on numerous fora. 'Must share a subnet on the same carrier that is also used in CA.

I'm in central VA, yet my IP is Arlington,VA [Washington DC]. While I have an adblocker, if I see an ad it is for a business in DC and even my web browser shows me as being in Washington.

Search for a 'business near me' or use navigation in the truck 'to the nearest...' and I get a location in NOVA or Maryland as the nearest.

Personally I like it for the 'confound others' factor.
