How do you know that the store hasn't boycotted them and taken their products off the shelves? How does everyone know that the Conservatives are the ones buying up their products? I would love for that to be the case but if the stores are removing their products, we need to boycott those stores. Not walk out with a smile thinking the conservatives are "winning" again. lol

Walmart shelves should be empty. Screw those awful chain stores like Walmart, Big Lots, Target. They’ve ruined the aesthetic of American cities and helped empower the CCP.

I placed 2 old 10 speed bikes in my yard last week and they sold in a day, 3 people wanted them.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78026219

Why are all the bikes gone and why does everyone want one.

And fishing stuff?
 Quoting: StellaWayten

In Nevada we have lots of bikes, Walmart is fully stocked. The only thing I couldn't find there was Lysol SPRAY. Wipes were low stock but available.

Fishing gear, no problem.

We have two large outdoor stores and those are stocked with everything you would expect, although 223 and 9mm ammo was only available in bulk. They had lots of bicycles too.

No one around here wants to ride their bikes in 110 degree weather. That's not exactly true, I see a lot of people on trails.

I find nearly everything in stock here and for most of Northern California.

Costco here and CA had everything including masks, toilet paper, beef. Same with grocery stores.

I have no idea why the rest of the country is having such a problem, but we've had very few shortages except when there was a run back in February on canned goods, toilet paper and wipes. Everything was pretty quickly restocked.

Maybe the Californians got tired of all the GLPers hating on it and since they have the ports where all the chingqong stuff comes in, they took it first. Also it helps that most of the state is a big farm that produces all the food.

My Winn-Dixie in central Florida has many bare shelves too. I suspect they are going under. Last year, they remodelled and then went with a Dollar General look. This morning, only half stocked.

I am thinking everyone should list everything they would buy in a year and get it right away.

When we were sitting in gas lines in Baltimore
in 1973, the word was that the gas stations
were having price wars in Texas.

Don't know how true that was.

I DO know that when the price climbed to $1/gallon,
the shortage mysteriously ended.

All the stations had to get new gas pumps though
because the old pumps only went up to 99 cents a gallon.

I had to get up 3 in the morning to sit in a
line to get gas to go to work!

Re: Walmart shelves empty.
I live in a tourist area in northern Wisconsin that has just been overwhelmed this summer with people escaping lock-downs. All our stores are low on everything, but are restocked regularly so it is impossible to tell if it is shortages, or just supply and demand.

What is interesting is when they are restocking, some items seem to be available and some not. For example, last week I was looking for a Home Run Inn frozen sausage pizza. The freezer had just been restocked, and all they had in there was 6 slots full of pepperoni. No sausage, deluxe, cheese, nothing but a cooler full of pepperoni. Same thing in Tombstone as well.

I found this interesting so I started paying attention to this as I walked around the store, and found this in a number of different areas. For example, in multiple styles of shoes they would have 15 pairs of shoes in some odd size like 13, and none in the other sizes.

Also, I was looking for a few plastic containers and found very few in the aisle where they were supposed to be. However, plastic bins could be found throughout the store in random departments filling gaps in products on the shelves.

This leads me to believe that there are some shortages, and that they are filling the slots with whatever they can get so to make the store not look as empty.

Honestly I think its a sign of people spending their stimulus checks and slow supply chain coming out of china.

Completely agree.

Also, where I am at people are buying up real estate like crazy right now. I have never seen it this frenetic with 1-40 acre lots being sold within 1-3 days of hitting the market.

People are SCARED in the big cities (or seriously fed up with city-politics and their policies).

Have you seen what Idaho is like right now?

Totally insane RE market.

(Incoming buyers (and fleeing sellers) escaping the hell of CA, Oregon, & WA state...)

Now is not a good time to buy ... but it is a GREAT TIME to sell - at least in the rural areas.

Yes, it is the same here in Mississippi. Home Depot and Lowe’s grill and lawn mowers outside is usually full. They are not ordering new items. Drill bits are dwindling as well as everything else... going to be a long cold winter.. They are going to lock it all down soon. No more essentials.

Then all we'll have left is Publix and walmart. Winn dixie wasn't really ever great with meat or prices. They do have pretty good deli/bakery stuff. Their bbq beans with pork is excellent. Publix hasn't made fresh bakery items in store for a long time. They warm up dough, that's about it. The rest comes from their factory in Lakeland. I'm not a fan of public. Wish we had Safeway down here. They tried it in Clearwater but it left for some reason.

You should go look again. Items are getting scarce. Lowe’s yesterday, garden section where all the plastic pots and containers 100% empty. Not 1. Inside store outdoor furniture and specifically seat cushion , mostly gone.

Yes I know it’s the season, but the plastic pots all gone? Never before.

Washers and dryers on back order till the fall also.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 53652834

Same here in Louisiana last week. Entire garden center cleaned out of both plastic and terra cotta pots/planters, but oddly, they were bursting at the seams with plants and bags of soil/mulch. This tells me the problem might not be a huge increase in gardening demand, but a problem with supply of pots.

Bikes have been out of stock everywhere since March. So has fitness equipment. People bored out of their minds and home buying it all up.

Combined with the stimulus checks, they sold a lot more of that kind of merchandise past Christmas/New Years then they normally would have, probably 10x as much.

China is producing and shipments are arriving, but people are still buying everything up. Although there are definitely still Covid-19 related factory shut downs and supply issues, there is still stuff coming in.

I've been saying this since the start of this COVID fiasco, buy what you can now, stock up on everything not just food. I noticed shortage at Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and other stores, just entire rows just gone, stuff consoldated.

I asked one clerk, at Marshalls I think it was, they said they're having trouble getting stuff from warehouse, or just that the warehouse is empty, so sounds like trade war, not sure.

I stocked up on shirts, pots/pans, sounds trivial, but in a year from now you might not get that stuff AT ALL.

Plan to go out and get tires and other stuff for car too. If the whole hyperinflation thing is true, better to buy now.

Is this it? Under cover of the plandemic lockdowns, as the sheep wait in line with their social distancing and masks on as they are told to do! Everyone divided even your house! China still not producing goods, food being discarded by the thousands of ton's. Protein shuttered, Distribution shut down!

You will work all day for your daily bread! a bag of grain for a day of labor!

In some places the woman will eat their children!
As all the men will kill each other.

I will not feed you or your babies! Hell I do not think my wife or mother in law is worth the 400,000 to 750,000 calories to feed for a year, when it comes down to it!

If you can find long term basic food, For one person is at least 1200 calories a day two times that if working, So about a half a million calories a year, So you can buy time enlarge your garden and your small animals to feed more people for security and labor!

Where I live in northern NY there are no Wal-Marts closer than an hour and a half but local groceries are ok with stock for the most part, although no wipes or Lysol, no hand sanitizer and very low stock of bleach and alcohol. Can't find pretreated wood anywhere, though. We're building a fence and bought the absolute last of what a local building supply company had in stock and it's just enough for our fence. Owner said he had no idea if they'd get any more in stock. Same for freezers. We have one, wanted a second and had to resort to buying one on Ebay. Thankfully the price wasn't bad and it's just what we needed. Can't find pools anywhere, even smaller quick set pools. Local pool supply said they have a limited order coming in and that's it. Same for garden supplies and a lot of hardware. No bikes in our area, either, and no fishing gear...which is ridiculous when you consider that's a huge draw in this area.

Yep, people are buying bikes because they either want to exercise, or can't/won't go to a gym, or because they want to avoid public transportation.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49684097

Exactly.

All THREE.
 Quoting: Grey Eagle

Gee, wouldn't it make good business sense to keep ordering more then?

But that's not what's happening. These items are not being restocked at all. Supply lines of imported products are shutting down and looks like many already have shut down entirely. At this point, people are scavenging what's still left from previous shipments. The "reset" is underway, which is directly related to the dollar being dropped as world reserve trade currency unit.

As for big box stores themselves, some good suggestions have been made in the thread regarding looting and even FEMA conversions, but the idea that shelves remain empty because people are buying, for example, 30 bikes a day is idiocy and is clearly just PR propaganda on your part.
