Anonymous Coward User ID: 79254735 United States 08/11/2020 04:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Local general store owner around my area was saying something about his seeing shortages from the supplies due to things like cans not being produced as much (not the food/drink in the can, the can itself) or some such, and such interconnected indirect ways there are shortages coming. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68356672 I worry that they will just start making the cans thinner so what we buy to store ahead will not last as long as it should. Have already seen one can of corn that I could almost crush like a beer can and the seam seemed to be poorly welded. |

After 5 months of lockdown and now semi-lockdown, all the big stores are just about back to normal. The first 3-4 months you only got half your order, with loads of substitutes. No TP for 2 months, no disinfectant products, no disposable gloves etc. Now it's 98% normal. Still, I've stocked up - in case of second wave. |

TBH I feel rather like all those stockpiler aholes who stopped me from receiving TP, beans, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes the first 2 months of this mayhem. But I never, ever want to be in that situation again. Being without TP is one of the most disgusting experiences of my life. Made me see how knife edge close we all are to losing hold of civilisation. |

User ID: 77396505 United States 08/12/2020 11:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I went to the market last night. Maybe people Quoting: slivervx are sensing the empending fall season coming? Can't speak as to the whole nation but I know in my area people have doubts things are going to go smoothly in the next few months. Schools are going back in and that is one source of doubt. Colleges are bringing people from all over the nation back into one spot and Manhattan (Kansas State) is loosening restrictions on the bar district not requiring basic questions/medical checks before staff go on shift. Alcohol and idiots are a dangerous mix. Quite a few I've talked to that work at the college say a month before they cut the semester early is the optimist opinion. Even those that are optimistic about CoVID are prepping for the election. I've seen people of both persuasions (yes, some democrats exist even in rural Kansas) have the opinion that no matter whom is elected, things could get rough. They don't want to use the words "Civil War" but their tone of voice and body language say it for them. Then you have the meteor theories floating around. I've had a few people I wouldn't have thought to have been into such things ask me about them (I've gained a sort of "know it all" status for the news as I keep away from MSM and read from around the globe). In short there is A LOT of fear from many directions. This gets people wanting to feel like they are doing something proactive and the best thing you can do to scratch that itch is stock up on food, buy more ammo, and keep the car well maintained/fueled up. Even have had people ask about getting winter tires early "just in case." Last Edited by Exusiai on 08/12/2020 11:18 AM |

Center of the store which is usually filled with all kinds of stuff was 60% empty. Very depressing. And no paper towels and almost no toilet paper again. Situation is not normal. |

Maybe people Quoting: slivervx are sensing the empending fall season coming? I went to our local Ikea. There is no doubt there are general shortages across the board. In the past, all the shelves were overfilled with product. Last night, it looked like everything was picked over. Very little choice, many empty shelves. There is definitely something going on with the supply chains..... |
