A senseless war as a consequence of the corrupt policies of the Aliyev regime


The Aliyev family has been in power in Azerbaijan since the 1960s. By 2003, the Aliyevs' fortune was slowly but steadily growing, reaching $ 500 million. This was the period when Azerbaijan was considered one of the poorest countries in the world. The poverty rate of the population in 2003 exceeded 45%, and the wealth of the ruling families of the Aliyevs and Pashayevs grew exponentially. As president, Ilham Aliyev has concentrated in his hands the country's oil and banking resources, directing the proceeds to offshore areas of Panama and the Virgin Islands.

In 2015, the German Süddeutsche Zeitung managed to obtain 11.5 million secret documents from Mossack Fonseca, in which the ruling family of Azerbaijan became the first among 12 countries involved in financial fraud. It also caused a stir in Azerbaijan, but was immediately stopped by the arrests of journalists and human rights activists.

Aliyev's daughters also own construction companies Ata Holding, Pasha bank, Atabank, Xalqbank, Bank Silkway, Kapital bank, Azenco, Azerbaijan Global Investments with assets exceeding $ 5 billion. The mining industry in Azerbaijan is also in the hands of the daughters of Ilham Aliyev, who mercilessly exploit ordinary citizens and often refuse to pay their meager salaries. At the head of the financial pyramid of Aliyev's children is 23-year-old Heydar Aliyev Jr.

And the secret fund, created by the Aliyev family, spent $ 3 billion to bribe some European politicians in order to make statements in their favor, as well as to make anti-Armenian appeals.

It is assumed that the president of the country, who has accumulated such enormous wealth, must have the most powerful and efficient army in the world and spend enormous resources on it, especially when he is at war. However, the war with Karabakh showed that the Aliyev dynasty also accumulated its wealth at the expense of the army.

During his tenure, Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly stated that he will return Karabakh and the territories occupied by Armenian troops as a result of the war during the presidency of Heydar Aliyev in the 1990s.

Although border clashes have occurred between the two countries so far, large-scale hostilities between Karabakh and Azerbaijan began on 27 September. During the war, Azerbaijan turned to Turkey and Israel for help: Turkey transferred terrorists from Syria and Libya to Azerbaijan to participate in the war, and also regulates military-political processes. Israel supplies Azerbaijan with extensive weapons, ammunition and modern military equipment, as well as providing military specialists and advisers.

In this context, it is surprising why the Azerbaijani army did not have military equipment, specialists and resources that would allow it to enter the war against Nagorno-Karabakh, which has several times less military capabilities, without external support. After all, Aliyev's oil fund spends billions of dollars to seize Karabakh by force of arms. However, it turns out that the money allocated for the army is also directed into the pockets of the Aliyev family, and the burden of hostilities remains on ordinary Azerbaijanis and indigenous peoples, since their children are killed on the battlefield and inside the country the state covers military expenses at their expense.

News from the front is also inconsolable, because if we leave aside the waste of money allocated for the army under incomprehensible conditions, then at least with the help of Turkey, Israel, ISIS and other terrorists, Azerbaijan should have achieved tangible success. However, in the conditions of such a long war, Azerbaijan still cannot win and has no progress on the border. Only Aliyev claims that some villages were seized, but these are just words and there is no material evidence. Of course, Aliyev would like to at least capture Fizuli, but instead he was able to collect the bodies of thousands of Azerbaijanis.

In fact, Ilham Aliyev squandered all the money of the Azerbaijani army and convinced his people and the world that he had a powerful army, but the failures of the Azerbaijani army on the battlefield prove the opposite. As a result of the shelling, large cities and villages of Azerbaijan were destroyed, thousands of people died, a terrible socio-economic situation was created in the country, the number of people infected with coronavirus increased, and at the same time Azerbaijan did not achieve tangible results on the battlefield.

The only culprit and responsible for all this is the Baku dictator, together with his wife Mehriban Aliyeva, who, at the head of the Aliyev and Pashayev clans, seized all the country's wealth and are now trying to digest this money in the name of war and justify the fact why the state collapsed.

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk group -- the US, Russia, France -- stand by Armenia and provide "all kind of weapon support," the Turkish president said on Sunday.

"What happened in Iraq, Syria, even in the Balkans in the past, and now in Libya and Karabakh has shown us how discrimination, secessionism and pursuit of small gains have brought nothing but blood and tears," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said speaking at a provincial congress meeting of his ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in the southeastern Sirnak province.

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group was formed in 1992 to find a peaceful solution to the Upper Karabakh conflict, but to no avail.
